The legend Bobby Robson has died. Aged 76.

Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson has died at the age of 76, following a long battle with cancer. Robson will be best remembered on the international stage for leading England to the 1990 World Cup semi-final.
At club level, he cut his managerial teeth at Fulham before establishing his credentials at Ipswich where he won the FA Cup and Uefa Cup in a 13-year stay.
Spells at PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona followed before ending his career at Newcastle.

Bobby Robson was a legend, they don't make 'em like him anymore. I remember going to watch a couple of his Champions League press conferences - such an interesting, honest bloke to listen to.

Just saw this myself... a sad day not only for football, but for England as a whole. He was a true gentlemen and an asset to the country. RIP Bobby.

Sir Bobby sadly passed away today, aged 76 after battling cancer for a long time.

His last public appearance was last Sunday at St James' Park for a benefit match between England and Germany with many of the 1990 teams playing.

I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly by complete chance a few years ago when he was on a walk in the countryside not far from Newcastle. Everone appeared in awe of him, even a couple of lads who were wearing Sunderland shirts.

He lived a life of two halves but life is a funny old game and at the end of the day it was his time to take an own goal.

He drove over a friend of mines foot in his Mercedes, he was driving out of the Newcastle Football ground, probably on his way back home to Durham were he lived. The poor girl he ran over she in plaster for weeks, but he was a very nice an honest man and paid up!

My he rest safely in heaven.
