Real Ashes start today

For ashes 2009, it felt unusual to have australia always in a position to lose/save a match.

The scores from 4th test look more familiar e.g. england getting in a position to be thrashed by an innings and some hundred runs .

Sport does do this to you though. I remember just a while ago having to mop up the coffee from my desk when I found out Australia had qualified for the football world cup.

Will wonders never cease.

That sounds interesting: three teams on the pitch at one time?

Not exactely... There are two teams playing at the time but only three southern hemisphere nations partake in the tournament. More info you can find here: http://www.trinationsrugby.net/

So why is this bloke who scored 344 not out for Sussex yesterday not playing for England? Wait, let me guess. He's not English?

doesnt usually bother them in cricket - you can play for whoever you want. I seem to remember kepler wessels captaining ireland at one point!

Re: Real Ashes start today

England 1st Innings
332 all out

Not good!

Aus are already 50 for no loss! Ashes is slipping away.

I would have given Mark Ramprakash one last chance as he has been absolutely murderous in county cricket.

There are some players who could only be murderous in local circuit and act like bunnies when it comes to international cricket. There are examples from all around the world.

I think Mark has had his chances and england cricket deserves to move forward.

I personally think that losing Ashes will do more good to them.

And perhaps england team is playing more "foreigners" than any other team in the world, so I will not hold it against them- no way.

Re: Real Ashes start today

Yes well maybe the Aussies are taking a bit too long to warm up. 111-7 at 17:15 (CET). All out by tea time? That would be grand.....

Re: Real Ashes start today

England needs to clean up the Aussie tail quickly and start 2nd innings with 150+run lead. God I would love to see Ricky Punter's losing face after the match

P.S- 8 down now
P.S-II- This match is in England's bag unless they screw up.

Scores seem to be looking a bit 'unusual' again it seems. Australia aren't what they used to be at cricket unfortunately.

So stoked at this, even though the quality of the series didn't quite reach 2005 standards.
I've actually avoided relentlessly ribbing all my Aussie friends and just let the result speak for itself.
