Excellent question 22,

The story as I know it is the team is named after the WWI Maple Leaf Regiment. As a proper noun you add the "s" for the plural.

Re: NHL Chat

The Leafs! I thought we were talking about hockey, not rich bankers going to an ice rink to watch some other overpaid losers.

The Leafs have one win this season! Long off the bandwagon. Officially an epic fan of the The Hamilton Predators!

oh wait. Bettman. Yet another reason to be happily overseas.

Re: NHL Chat

In our house we support The Bruins and Boston College as Uncle B is from Mass. Would be great to go to the Bean Pot next year. Maybe we'll check out the tournament in Davos this year as well- could be fun! We get a lot of games on ESPN America.
I know that there are several levels of Senior teams around for ages 30+. If you want someone to contact to ask about joining the HC Zurich Dolphins, send me a PM and I'll give you a name and number.
One of the guys on the Schaffhausen team pointed us towards the Ochsner Hockey store in Embrach. Has everything you could possibly want.

If you can find out where to watch Hockey Night in Canada let me know.
If you have ESPN America on Cablecom or Naxoo they quite often carry it live then repeated the following day.

For instance tonight they have Flames at Leafs followed by Canucks at Avs from 0100 repeated from 0930.

Re: NHL Chat

We used to watch the games on the p2p when we lived in Canada but now the timezone thing gets in the way!

We bought the NHL package on the ESPN europe web site for fairly cheap I think, anyway you get every single NHL game, live or on demand and you can turn the scores off so it's like watching live. My hubby and I are HUGE Canuck fans and have watched every game since the season started, would recommend it for any hockey fan

Re: NHL Chat

How dumb was that? Watching the Winter Classic and the Bruin's goalie Thomas gets knocked off his skates, makes a brilliant save then concentrates on cross-checking the player who knocked him over - fogetting about the other Philly who has the puck. Philly 1 Bruins 0.

Canada loses World Junior's to Americans. I guess the streak had to end sometime. Congrats to the American kids. Winning this in Canada is no easy task!

Brutal! Oh well, we saw it coming after barely beating them on NYE, and the Swiss giving us a run for the money previously.

I'm just happy to see they could have played the majority of the tournament without a goalie and still dominated.

Best hockey to watch in a long time, scary that they're so young. (Although met a couple teams at YYZ---some of the guys were tiny, I see why they were already out)

Never played Hockey, but Hockey is HUGE in my family!
I'm actually trying to get into the Hockey here.... am I a trader?

Re: NHL Chat

That's going to be expensive. Puck 1 Camera 0

This is why you watch the game instead of gassing to your neighbours.

Re: NHL Chat

Disclaimer: I'm a west coast Hockey Fan so the majority of the eastern teams i dont pay too much attention to until the playoffs. That being said, briefly perusing the standings, TOR is off to a surprisingly good start considering how much ass they blew last year. And... the isles doing well? that's weird right? But to me, not too much else to comment on in NE or Atlantic divisions, and the SE division is unimportant.

Central Division: no surprises really. It'll boil down to DET and CHI like always.

Looking out west, i see the Kings, my first love, are doing well, continuing to build.

Sharks seem to have it back together after a bad start, glad to see PHO and ANA doing poorly.

CAL and VAN seem to be doing what they always do: well in the regular season on their way to a playoff implosion.
