Should Hughes or Benitez be the first to go...

It looks like Mark Hughes will get the sack today for drawing too many games. There can't be too many complaints after all the money that was spent over the summer and with it a level of expectation to succeed. MH was never a big time manager and was fortunately to have found himself with such a golden chance.

Rafa Benitez on the other hand has had five years at the helm of Liverpool but his teams have always been inconsistent. Their biggest mistake was of course selling Xavi last year and RB should have done more to make him want to stay by showing that the club had real ambition.

Is Mancini the man for City? And will Kenny Dalglish come back to manage Liverpool?

And what about Wenger, when is it time to ask when will promise be turned into real performance?

Manchester City sack Mark Hughes and appoint Roberto Mancini as manager

It was obviously well planned to give RM enough time to appraise the players before MC spend big again this January.

As a Citeh fan I would have to say that Sparky has hardly returned value for money , or got the best out of high cost signings ...

Two many deaws, too many goal scored against, what on paper, should be a really solid defence. We let in far fewer last season, without the cost or wage bill!!

TBH, he never struck as the real deal, his career at blackburn was ok but nothing more.

Hiddink would have been a much more interesting choice than Mancini - but Abramovich made sure that would never happen.

PS It is beyond me why Benitez is still in a job, other than Liverpool have no money ....

It was rumoured that he would be sacked this week, regardless of Man City's performance. So am not really surprised by that piece of news. Old Sparky's rubbish anyway.

What I am most surprised about is why Benitez is still around. "In Rafa we trust" is getting very very old for me. But thats another story altogether.

20 million is a lot of money for clubs not bankrolled by Arabs, Russians or the Asians.

Rafa will go too as Hughes has gone, football has changed so much and actually of the signings MH made how many were sanctioned by Hughes. It it like when Keegan left the Toon he was being forced to make signings....ok you can say that he spits his dummy out to easily but the point is that the premiership is is becoming like the Italian and Spanish leagues where there is no patience, to much money and high expectations and no loyalty.........to many prima donnas in the game

Rafa has lost the loyalty or respect of the players and they just won't play for him anymore. MH was never the same calibre as managers like Hiddink, Ancelotti or even Sven GE

Best performing manager at the moment has to our 'Harry' and I hate Spurs but he's doing a great job there.

I think it was much more the defensive coaching that let him down, having said that he appointed Bowen and the rest. We have leaked goals over the last few months, poor Shay Given must be popping Prozac by now.

Also we seem to have lacked shape for ages. Hopefully Mancini will attach some bungee cord to Richards so he doesn't keep going too far forward and leaving the other defender with his hands full.

Given has been the best thing that Hughes has been done. The guy must be at the end of his tether. There is a **** defence of well paid palyers who just can organise themselves.

Hughesy hardly grabbed the mettel , did he !
