Beginners Ski lessons

Recently took my children skiing at Hoch YBrig and gave them a bit of a surprise. As it was their first day on skis they struggled.
Can anyone advise what is the best way to get them turning.
For example I was thinking of a private lesson at Flumserberg and then down the easy blue that is there.
But are there any other options/ resorts that would be better suited?
I need to hire skis, boots and helmets for them on the day they come so need a fairly well established resort.
Any ideas greatly recieved.

Re: Beginners Ski lessons

We booked ours into a group ski lesson (2 x 2hrs), after 2 days of lessons the 10 yr old was reasonably competant & very confident at snowplough turns & the 5 yr was ok - but preferred sledging.

Do the group lesson thing - they are with kids of their own age & ability & the ski instructors make it far more fun than you'll ever be! I witnessed my kids doing a mini slalom picking up feather dusters as they turned corners!

Try Brunni, and the nearby Brunni Haggenegg (i think thats how its spelt) lots of Home Counties accents at the wekend, but the ski school is ok, speak English, bit of a lottery on numbers, if the weather is pants your kids will get a virtual private lesson for a couple of hours.

Advantage is that you can by up to 6 vouchers and then use them when you want.

Just my two penneth.

If you can afford to splurge on a private lesson or two for them together, I think that would be great. They are slightly old for the beginner courses, and as mentioned above, these classes can get super crowded if the weather is nice. We've tried Brunni with mixed success (14 kids, 1.5 instructors, too much standing around and waiting -- our daughter bores easily ), but I think it's the same at many places.

I'm sure they will pick it up quickly with a lesson and then jump straight into the blue league, where they are actually on the slopes and can have fun with the other kids (and presuming they speak German).

Good luck!
