There'll be a bigger riot from non-BCers when they realise how hard it is to get a drink in Vancouver.

I am hoping there are some good protests; I'm not too happy with the organisation of these Olympics myself. Way too corporate and very corrupt. They are basically the personal party of Gordo, our premier.

But tomorrow, I put that aside and enjoy the competition.

You don`t need a drink in Vancouver . Just standing on the street corners, you getting hight from what others are smoking

Canada simply HAVE to win the Olympics, may be some assassinations otherwise!! In all seriousness, I see no upsets this year and look no further than Canada, Russia, USA and Sweden.

Canada have about 3 squads of good enough players to choose from and are stacked in all departments - Goaltending is a huge question, Brodeur is the money man and has to lead in my eyes. To be able to leave out talent like St. Louis, Lecavallier, Brad Richards, Bouwmeester and Green is just sick!!

Russia are on their day sometimes un-playble and play without looking. Ovechkin, Semin, Malkin, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk possess insane skills, and thier special teams could be the key - don't give away too many pens against these specialists!

USA have a gutsy young squad with only 6 skaters and 2 goalies over 25. Only 3 players with Olympic experience could be crucial or totally irrelevant - kids play with passion and no fear! Maybe the surpise package, need to start with a comfortable win.

Sweden have skill and experience coming out of their ears! 2/3rds of the team are defending the trophy won 4 years ago, and for a lot of those guys, it could be their Olympic finale due to age. If the injury doubts all clear up, and Lundqvist plays at the top of his game, a medal is a guarantee in my eyes.

I'm going
1 Canada
2 Russia
3 Sweden (Would give them silver but I think they'd play CAN in semis ?)
4 USA

NLA - Servette for the playoffs, beating Bern who won't choke til then!

Caps look great and balanced but they are not backed up in goal for a playoff run in my eyes. Even if Tim Thomas signs as speculated, he's hot and cold. But if they average 5 goals a game, the other team needs 6!

Blackhawks, Pens or Sharks - Finally think San Jose reaches its potential and a final, and it would be great for Joe Thornton. Wings have suffered with injuries, but you can't rule them out if they make the playoffs - so much winning experience still.

I'm gonna go reluctantly with back to back Pens.

It appears Team Canada Executive Director Steve Yzerman isn't going to take any chances with Ryan Getzlaf's bum ankle.

In a statement from Hockey Canada early Thursday morning, Yzerman admitted he contacted Philadelphia Flyers center Jeff Carter and informed him to be ready in case he gets the nod to join his Canadian Olympic teammates in Vancouver.
"I contacted Jeff Carter of the Philadelphia Flyers and advised him that in the event that Ryan Getzlaf is unable to take part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games due to injury, he will take his spot on the roster," Yzerman wrote. "I asked him to be ready and prepare in case he has to join us in Vancouver later this week."
Getzlaf sprained his ankle on Monday and is using a protective boot. He hopes to play this weekend or go through a full practice on Friday in Calgary. All teams participating in the Olympics must declare their lineup by Monday.
Getzlaf hopes to be in the lineup Saturday when Anaheim plays the Flames or Sunday in Edmonton.
"All signs are showing to things progressing the way we want them to," Getzlaf told the media following his team's 3-2 win over the Oilers on Wednesday. "Obviously we have our fingers crossed if things keep going the same way and we don't have any setbacks. When I woke up (Wednesday) morning, I was walking a lot better. I'm off the crutches and all that stuff. All those things point in the right direction."

Hahaha. You beat me to it! Spezza is a man possessed right now. I wasn't expecting it this soon but with the Sens winning in regulation (as called, although it wasn't pretty) and Sabres losing yesterday, the Senators are in first place in the Northeast and 3rd in the conference. Look out!

I certainly hope the Sharks don't make it past the second round with that fool Heatley on their team. What an idiot. I hear he has requested a trade to Norway for the Olympics...

I can't wait for the men's hockey to start tonight

I shall be all set for USA v Switzerland and then Canada v Norway! May have to squeeze a nap in somewhere!

I'm not overly pleased about this. They need to make sure and stay focused.

Too many tournament have had a brutally strong start for Canada with dissapointing results when the opposition impoves with Canada playing with that "we can coast right through this" attitude.

Well at least the boys didn't go to 18

Caught the US-CH game. CH survived well. Missed the CAN game as I got the time wrong, but will def make an effort to catch their game against CH.

I agree with Chemmie; let's hope they keep focused.

Dang. Canada dodged a bullet! Hiller was looking very good. I don't think Team Canada took the Swiss team seriously and it almost bit them on the ass.

I see Slovakia beat Russia, wow! Halak carried his strong play into the Olympics now. Wonder what that will mean for the Habs goalie situation? I think they'll keep both for now, would be daft not to. Price is bound to get another chance down the road but you can't leave Halak out when he's this hot.

Came home after drinking just in time for the game but decided to go to sleep. Just like the Canadians. Not to take away from Hiller who was astounding.

Watched the 2nd half of the morning game, which was very good. Hossa was def the difference.

Let's hope the Canadians and the Russians pick up their game.
