Michael Owen - injured...again :-(

I don't really follow English Football (why would I being a Liverpool supporter ) but it's sad to hear Michael Owen is injured again and unlikely to play for England in the World Cup.

I remember watching him play for England against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup and his goal (assist from Beckham) was a magic moment of true genius.

Be honest - he was unlikely to play again anyway

Re: Michael Owen - injured...again :-(

I think he had a good chance to partner with Rooney in the early group stages.

Was he the one that started playing for the other team?

How d'you figure that out?

I don't have an axe to grind, but he's not been part of Capello's plans for a while, or ever for that matter, and at best would be fourth choice to partner Rooney after Heskey, Crouch, Wright-Phillips (in no particular order).

Heck he's not even first choice to partner Rooney at Man U as far as I can tell - that in itself should say a lot about his chances.

Re: Michael Owen - injured...again :-(

Final proof that there is a god. Michael was good once, but lets face it he's made career on a few bright shining moments.

Nowadays you wouldn't want taking the place of someone who might actually score a goal for us!!

You mean like Jermain Defoe?

Defoe : 39 caps 11 goals
Owen : 89 caps 40 goals

He was actually pretty good for Madrid but he was never going to be played ahead of Raul.

As for going to WC, he never was.
