Start of the 2010 AFL season

Yew, about time. I've been bursting with excitement. Tonnes of changes around the league with more trades than usual last year

Any place got games live in Zurich?

Re: Start of the 2010 AFL season

I went to the Shamrock in Wollishofen and watched a few Friday games last year. I was supposed to meet someone in town on a Saturday last year to watch a Saturday night game but the pub didn't open until well after the game was finished.

Eurosport 2 is showing one live game per week in German. Finally a compelling reason to learn the language.

It's already looking like a long year for the Tigers!

I recorded the cats bombers game yesterday and had to avoid anyone telling me the score. It's harder than you might think because my boss is a Bombers fan.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the German commentary although I did like the way one of them got Chapman and Ablett confused and the other guy says "Zweimal Kojaks"

Looking forward to seeing some Saints games. I think the key is to watch live and get the radio commentary off the net.

And Round 4 Eagles v Bombers. Good for you but three weeks out of four they show the Bombers.

Yeah typical bombers bias. I would have thought they crack a few saints and pies games early.

I probably gonna miss a few games because Im away for work and I don't have a recorder, but my old man back home is taping quite a few games off fox and sending them over on a tumbdrive so I could possibly get a few games for you if ya want. Depends on how good my explainations of how to tape off the telly is to my dad. He aint the most technological bloke out there

I'll be at the Wembley Hotel or my Dad's living room. Not helpful for Zurich, but makes me feel real good to say it

Oliver twist in Nierderdorf is the best bet in Zurich. Went there last year and it was full. Talked to brendan the other day and he said that they are opening up at 530 or 6. I'll be there with bells on hopefully with some germans and swiss. Show em a real sport

Re: Start of the 2010 AFL season

+1 for me on that front ^

Is anyone getting together to watch the GF? Its a pretty scary time in the morning and not sure who would broadcast such an event but perhaps something should happen? Perhaps it should be recorded and then watched at a BBQ lunch or something? Mind you, I am in Geneva and probably well away from any proposed action...

Re: Start of the 2010 AFL season

I think they show it at the Oliver Twist but I can't see anything at their website.

I'll be in the nosebleed section of the Ponsford Stand.

since we're on opposite sides of the fence, maybe I'll just go to southern stand instead.. Schweiz is a peaceful country but over a game of foody anything may happen
