South African rugby discussion

Hi All,

Being South African and also being a HUGE rugby fan, thought I would start a SA rugby discussion.

Latest news from SA actually looks really good for the Springboks (INHO)!

Check out the article: http://www.rugby365.com/tournaments/cc/news/2641661.htm

Rassie for Coach, or at least real coach!!

Thats not funny. But as Springbok supporters, we aren't really used to getting our ass handed to us. Especially considering our white-washing of the Super 14. Thats what a bad coach will do to a team. Canta: Kiwi or Aussie?

Not exciting at all, lost 2, won 1. Worst tri-nations ever (i think). Considering last year we only lost 1 game... And again Super 14 2010, both teams in the final were South African...

Yes, yes I know all the usual "All Blacks choke in the World Cup" sayings (the benefits of being engaged to an Australian!!) but I have a good feeling this time at home After all we have an unbeaten record of World Cups played in NZ
You must be worried though about SA's ability to travel.......

Actually, I am one of the few (non-Kiwi supporters) who think the Kiwi's could get past that "chokers" image and actually go all the way. Team is looking pretty good. But, I also would not count the Aussies out, team is looking pretty exciting. Last tri-nations game was close!

We dont really travel well to NZ, so we shall see. In the end it will depend completely on our coach. No excuses from us regarding travelling.

Re: South African rugby discussion

Don't start me on the Aussies', being that Robbie should be our coach and as I am a Cantabrian, idiolise the ground he walks on and he will forever only be on loan to Australia until he comes home to his rightful place.
But you are right, they do look sharp and are a very enjoyable team to watch.
Lets hope you guys can get your coaching issues worked out too. Maybe you should come shopping for coaches in NZ as well Just only in the North Island please...
Fingers crossed that we can keep it together next year and that the boys don't feel the expectation of the nation on their heads again.
We do tend to be a bit unfairly harsh on them if they don't deliver.

Yeah lets see, well at least the article I posted looks a little more positive. Have heard the Kiwi press is pretty harsh. Btw, what do you think of the new Super 15 for next year. Just looked at our schedule and our players are going to be completely dead at the end of next year! Aussies have it a bit easier, but don't know how it is for Kiwi's?

Re: South African rugby discussion

21 weeks of competition does seem a little brutal and that's before they have to start the internationals.
Seeing as the Super 15 doesn't end until first week of July, are they going to squeeze in a full Tri-Nations, international season as well before the World Cup in September.......
Not surprised Graham Henry is toying with the idea of resting players again....

Agreed, and the South African Currie Cup starts in July/August, so I really don't know what they are going to do... Hopefuly the Boks also rest their players...

I guess you are a lady and therefore are referring to certain other qualities of his. Although he was actually a pretty good rugby player too! Btw, quite knowledgeable on rugby for a lady. Good on you!
