two small problems

Had a peek, but didn't see either of these two in five pages of support.
1) I've got a permanent 'Private messages: Unread 3,...', even though two of them don't actually exist. It happened when someone pm'ed me from abroad and each one they sent counted as two, but only one could be seen.
Any ideas on how to get rid of messages that aren't there? I keep getting excited that someone likes me, but it's alway the ghost pms...
2) When someone posts a large picture, no horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom in firefox, so i can never see the right hand side of whatever over-sized image it is. i can't seem to find a setting that affects this in the firefox menus, but this problem doesn't occur with the other forums or websites that I use.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved and possibly even acted upon.

I've also deleted the messages to and from you.

I have the same lack of horizontal scroll bar with large images using Safari.

I do a save image on those I want to see in full, and view them locally.

1. I've never sent you a PM, although I keep meaning to in order to apologise for persistently reading your name as Colon Elboris - entirely my stupidity I appreciate .
2. Same problem re large images in firefox 2.0.0.6. If it's any consolation I've just seen how yucky the forum looks in IE6 in comparison and the over-sized image issue is worse .

I can confirm the scrolling error for three browser engines. The bug ist most obvious when browsing the photo gallery with photos in their original resolution. On OS X 10.4.10 the following browsers are affected:

Mozilla 1.7.12
Safari 2.0.4
iCab 3.03

The browser's behavior is maybe caused here:

I've noticed that the second problem now sometimes happens when I edit a post - i.e. after the edit has been saved the whole page is too large to fit the screen and there is no scroll bar (in firefox and in IE). No pictures/images involved.

Horizontal scroll bar issues probably appearing due to the CSS issue which has been correctly spotted above. This was put in because the banner at the top of the page is especially wide (to account for different size browsers), so the horizontal scroll bar is deliberately killed.

People shouldn't really be putting giant images into posts which would cause a horizontal image to be used, but if they do the easiest way to view the image would be to right click in your browser (at least in Firefox) and pick "view image". This will view the image in its own browser window and scale it appropriately.
