Duh...
What you're not recognising is it creates a lot of work for mods to deal with the consequences of people coming back to us in blind panic, which happens all too frequently. Hence, a rule. We could always have more rules, I suppose...

Uncle, to me it appears that the mods have been given a tool and they just want to apply it without thinking because it is simple and easy, and at least one mod thinks it is "clever and/or fun" to do so (you know who you are ).

I see a new, vague reason popping up each time, skirting my previous counterpoints. Typical of bogeyman.

What you are not recognizing is, if I posted something when I was drunk and regretted it later, I can always edit/delete the post for a couple of months (newbies are an exception). I suppose you are aware of it.

More interestingly, why was my email removed from my signature line? That is something I can edit/remove any time I wish without your help? If I am savvy enough to add it, surely I will be savvy enough to know how to edit it without your intervention? Are you trying to protect me by editing my signature, or just showing your (mods in general) powers?

There really is no need to display your email address in a post or in your signature as there's already an option to send email via the forum.

Hi,

Coz you'd be encouraging the others. No broken window policy and all that. Blunt, but effective. Not sure what the "bogeyman" reference concerns.

"PM me for more details" and you're away.

Please consider, we get a lot of housekeeping from users not going along with guidelines. I recognise you're an adult but even adults fluff it sometimes. We get a lot of Newbies...

HTH.

...and later there was a change in the situation of the guy who started this Thread and who had protested that his email address should be left.
