How does one go about getting Buddies? Is it like dancing, do you have to wait to be asked (I'm old-fashioned)?

At the bottom left corner of "My Settings" is a link to where you can add and remove people from your buddy and ignore lists.
I tend to use the buddy list to flag all the trouble makers and rabble rousers so that I get a warning when they come online.
Oh, hangon, they actually are my buddies.
