How about a "Food and Drink" Section

Hi,

Quite a few times we get people posting threads of a culinary nature - for example Jack's regular postings about seasonal foods, or people looking for certain food items in Switzerland.

Such posts don't really fit comfortably in any of the other sections, so how about a "Food and Drink" section to the forum?

Cheers,

Nick

I'll bring this too the attention of the administrators. I think there's a hole that needs to be filled.

Re: How about a "Food and Drink" Section

The problem with adding additional sections is two fold:

1. Existing areas have to be searched and threads moved to the new areas - not a small amount of work.

2. It creates additional confusion for people when they agonise over which areas to post in.

I'm not opposed to the idea per say, but maybe we should consider a couple of other options such as renaming entertainment and dining to also include food and drink, or having an area which also includes shopping.

For example, does food and drink cover eating it, preparing it, or buying it? When we say dining, does this mean dining out or dining in? If dining in, then could there be overlap with the newly proposed area?

If we also want to talk about buying food, then should the new area also cover shopping questions such as where to buy certain non-food items (these seem to come up a lot as well)

Just some food for thought, no pun intended. I tend to usually say no to new areas (many people find the number of areas confusing, so I tend to try and keep changes to a minimum).

Of course, discussion and comments welcome.

Re: How about a "Food and Drink" Section

I think thats a good idea, to just add food and Drink to the existing entertainment and Dining folder and maybe only sort of create any 'sub threads' of which the most important one could be placed perhaps on top as a sticky??

- All things food related as in where can i find such and
such...................
- List Restaurants alike the recent Mexcian resto thread, i am sure there
was a Curry thread as well somewhere
- How can i substitute a product known from home with a swiss product

And why not asking the known food afficionados (e.g. all of us who are in favour of such an additinal thing) to help scouring the forum for exisiting threads to be moved into that section?

I am sure there is more than i just thought up and I am looking forward to read what the others come up with.
