Malware report when visiting EF

Starting 3pm today, Chrome is showing a malware report when visiting EF.

Other browsers will possibly be doing the same, particularly Firefox.

We're currently investigating the cause of this with an attempt to fix ASAP.

Happened to me on Chrome. I switched to IE and that seems OK.

Just block all the ads. Everything's rosey.....obviously one of the advertising CDNs are not very secure but I block ads and a bucket full of scripts....

Adblock, Privacy Badger and ScriptSafe in case you ask.

Can't install adblocker on my work (enterprise) version of Chrome so I've had to switch to IE.

I'm only having a problem when I try to view one thread .....and Firefox is coming up with a "Reported Attack Page!" warning:

Restricted B permit & unemployment insurance payment

I'm heading down to the bunker to await further instructions.....

Nuffin' on Puffin.

..... on iPad.

Unless, of course, the puffin has turned into an ostrich.

However, as I accidentally clicked on a link on a dodgy PayPal email, yesterday, they already have control of it, now, anyway.

Re: Malware report when visiting EF

I get the problem using CHROME, even when opening the front/home page.

IE is OK ... correction, IE allows me to access EF, but IE is far from being OK.

Could be a good ol' Adobe (flash player) issue (the hackers software of choice).

IE uses ActiveX, which surprisingly appears to be unaffected, whereas Chrome and Ff. use the 'plun'n'play' (NPAPI).

Re: Malware report when visiting EF

Someone from a Russian IP address managed to grant their EF account with admin permissions and then install a dodgy vBulletin plugin.

The plugin has now been deleted, the account banned, and the security vulnerability they used has been closed.

We've told Google that the problem is cleared, but it might take around 24 hours for browsers to stop reporting the error.

Is this why EF seems very quiet at the moment?

Which dodgy vBulletin plugin? That information may be useful to anyone who overrode the warning.

Re: Malware report when visiting EF

sounds like someone needs to use LastPass and automatically-generated passwords for the admin account. Or disable it and use personal ones with equally massive passwords.

And more importantly switch the site to use TLS 1.2 with decent ciphers.

You're asking an administrator can't copy the database?

Thank goodness I don't use this email and password anywhere else.....
