Anyone have preview/edit/quote post problems?

Since last night I'm having problems seeing posts when I preview them. Also if I try and go back and edit a post. This is what I get - no text in the actual posting box so no way to alter/add to it. I haven't downloaded anything or changed anything on my PC.

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

No problem here. I don't normally bother to preview posts ( hence the large number if typos in my posts) but I did a test just now and it's working fine for me.

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Yes. I noticed that a similar problem was happening sporadically yesterday morning in both Firefox and IE, where the use of the preview button cleared the contents of the edit window. I even prepared a post about it, but then could not duplicate the effect on that new post, so I abandoned it, assuming the problem had been fixed in the mean time.
I can, incidentally, preview this post without problems.
Edit: I can edit it as well

When I tried to view the forum on Fri. evening, I got this screen - might explain some glitches:
(Either that, or the Ruskies are coming ...... again)

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Another similar issue, still present, is that when I try to "Quote" the following post, it refuses to load it into the edit window, and the edit window remains empty:
http://www.englishforum.ch/daily-lif...ml#post2379689
This may, however, have another explanation because the post contains some images.

An article in the Guardian goes into a bit more detail into how Switzerland came top by showing rankings of GDP per capita, Social support, Healthy life expectancy, Freedom to make life choices, Generosity and Perceptions of corruption.

It’s interesting to see that the first four have high rankings but, compared to second place Iceland, Generosity gets a low score and Perceptions of corruption gets a high one.

This one? Doing a test to see if I can quote it.

Edit: yes I can.

Very interesting. I have tried with both Firefox and IE (from the same PC) and can't quote that post. But I can quote yours, as you can see .

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Problems started on Friday evening. The Home page hasn't updated since then, editing posts can be very erratic, quotes often do not work.

It is the same on various browsers and operating systems.

Yes, I got that a couple of times too, but has been okay today so far.

I use the preview post option a lot, partly to check spelling and also sometimes when reading through I decide to add to it. So it suddenly not behaving itself is darned annoying. I've got IE 10 on a Win7 PC. Time to get Sunday lunch anyway now so I'll run my virus checkers just to make sure there's nothing at my end causing problems. Might empty the register too.

In the early hours of Saturday morning the Forum site was down due to maintenance (at least it was according to the notice that came up when I tried a couple of times around 1am), so possibly there's a glitch due to whatever was done then?

Top tip: when viewing attached images on iPad, touch the image and it should appear in larger scale within a pop-up window - which can be further enlarged with fingers, whilst still remaining in focus.

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Ran two virus checkers and cleaned the registry out. Replied to another thread and couldn't get the quote function to work. So seems there may still be a glitch or two here on the website after the update.

My preview works fine, but I also cannot quote grumpy's post. Normally I'd say it's because the image was linked instead of attached as a file, but then at least the text should be quoted. Admins are probably still working out some bugs.

Edit - obviously normal quote seems to be working for me.

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Seemed fine to me yesterday though I did try and avoid using the quote and preview too much, but it's been acting up again today. Getting the blank posting screens again which I try to preview or edit and quote's not always appearing either.

It seems to be getting worse. For some reason I can quote your post, but this Question about Internet providers I can't. OK, It is long, but appears to be pure text. Anyway, something has changed today. Now the Homepage date sensitive stuff like 'Upcoming events' seems to be less stale than before, with less events in the recent past.

Top Tip#2; make sure your screenshot is in focus to start with.... otherwise NO amount of enlarging on an iPad will make a blind bit of difference.

Re: Anyone have preview post problems?

Preview post and quoting seem to be fine now, but today something else has appeared. I've got a 1 message notice at the top of the page, but when I click on it there's no message. Last one I had was from 3Wishes a few days ago. I can't get rid of the notice. There was no e-mail notification about a private message either.

Having problems with editing. I sent a very long and detailed reply to places to visit before leaving Switzerland. 2 seconds after posting, I realised I'd forgotten to mention Gruyères and clicked in edit and added this- and the whole post disappeared!!! Grrr
