I left a dozen post-it notes on my screen last night - good to see it worked.
e.g. Tube posters

Hannah's Auntie- perfect! But where on earth is this, Not on the tool bar, not in 'Home' or 'directory', 'community' or 'Control panel' - so how do you get to this section? (be nice please, I was born way before mobile phones or computers- although my big bro was in the fist batch of Doctorate in IT at Grenoble University, in 1965 or 6! He is the clever clogs and soon 79).
Do you know, I have no idea! I think I must have read it way back in a similar thread.

Given that the post count restrictions have now been removed it's fairly irrelevant now anyway as you can post as much as you like, unless you just want to look at the stats I guess.
They've been removed! Does that mean I'm not going to be locked out for most of the time over Christmas/New Year? Whoopee!

...What is being done to address this, or is this gradual decline acceptable?
According to EB, posting stats are down on Forums worldwide, mostly because there are so many places to post, and as mirf said a lot of folks tend to post more on FB, etc. I have no problems with the post counts here (high or low) so long as folks still post interesting and useful stuff.

Although the limits are removed for now, this isn't a license to post as much garbage as one wants. If admins see particular users abusing the setup and dominating the Forum then limits can be reinstated.

We also still appreciate the use of multi-quote to keep things tidy.

Indeed. My post was in direct reply to Odile and she's not in the habit of posting garbage.

Could someone pass that message on to Wolli? He has managed to do it once or twice but he generally uses multiple posts in succession.

This reason for not multi-quoting and not merging posts might interest those of you who didn't read it at the time.

Was there a post somewhere in the middle of all the irrelevant off-topic stuff, saying that the posting limits have been removed? If so, I think we can call this a success story.
My posts are probably about 50% help, links, suggestions, 25% comments and 25% 'fun'. To cut down the fun element to enable me to have enough leeway for 'helping' didn't appeal to me much.

Thanks to the Mods who doubtless passed on their observation of riots in the ranks to the Higher Beings!

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as directing the comment at you. It was a general comment in hopes that we'll still have a good balance of viewpoints without the posting limitations.

Re: Caught out by Post Count

Considering that post count and user count has dropped 50% in 2.5 years it is "good" to see it reversed last week. Hopefully the "fun" element will be allowed to continue while still leaving enough posts free to have some proper discussion and help.

A couple of posters do seem to be dominating at the moment on a couple of threads in particular. Something to keep an eye on I guess.

May not be a bad idea. Certain people do seem to dominate the forum at times which I'm not sure is a good thing especially when they're just posting the same old things as nauseum.
Reintroducing the limit but perhaps at a higher level than before may improve things.

Just ignore the main culprits, they never posted anything that you will truly miss

I made 3, I bet my weekly average is way down, been exchanging with Odile today.

I fully anticipate Plumtree to be banned permanently sooner or later so I guess that removes the biggest problem.

Why should Plumtree be banned? She is not better or worse than a lot of forum legends. Definitely a member that makes the forum a bit more lively.

As entertaining as she is (in short bursts) she will inevitably get into a repetitive argument with someone about either Billag or rubbish or how to not pay any tax/save money and things will get out of hand as they normally do.
She does sometimes make some interesting and useful points but doesn't seem to know when to call it a day and then ends up taking things too far.

Exactly, anyhow what is the point of banning members when forum legends/mods get banned and then they are reinstated.
