Editing Old Posts

It seems that it is now possible for a forum user to edit old posts.
Unless I have missed something, the following was enforced up until recently:

1. A post that was up to about 5 minutes old could be edited without leaving a comment/timestamp.

2. A post of over 30 Minutes old could not be edited by a normal user.

I found this which goes some way to explaining how it was:
Policy: Deletions / Edits of messages (see post #25)

Is this a permanent new feature or an unintended change ?

PS. I don't like it.

If you crossed the 100 rep point bridge (it looks like you have, current rep standing at 108), IIRC you have received ability to indefinitely edit your posts. Any number of rep points (except when you have very, very few posts or are very, very new) leave you with a 10min non-timestamped editing ability and a certain number of posts (or was it positive rep points) leaves you with ~3hr timestamped editing ability IIRC.

HTH

Thanks for the explanation and I wonder what other features are opened up by crossing the 100 points barrier.
When I said I didn't like it, I meant, of course, I don't like other people having the ability to edit their own posts. I , of course, would use it responsibly

Being able to edit your own posts for longer than 5 minutes is a feature at just about every forum I have ever been to, and I can't think of any really good reasons why it shouldn't be allowed just for the 0.1% of people that don't use it responsibly.

Thank you

I wonder how many more features I'm blissfully unaware of

It should come with a selfdestruct button: once you spend a certain amount of hours on EF, the screen could show Justin Bieber's head explode. Or something.

Come to think of it, I'd probably wait till the end of my time to see him explode. Again, and again, and again...
