so 2st, db and tom on a wee holiday.... yet plumtroll is still with us, go figure
That really is yet another horrid and despicable post from you, Papa Goose. You should be deeply ashamed of yourself for posting these things repeatedly. It seems your simple aim is to get users banned.
I trust you are a bully offline as well as online. Is that how you actually talk about people in daily life?
Is that what you regularly do when in dialogue? i.e. when at a total loss, simply resort to name calling, whether the person is there or not?
Totally immature, but also hurtful and upsetting.
Also it's clearly very easy for you to do this, hiding behind your computer screen and username.
But posts like that should be removed from the page.
Bullying, including open and blatant cyber-bullying is always wrong.
If you don't like someone else's opinions, you can say so politely and then move on. There is absolutely no reason to do that people, - no reason at all.

Just a thought. Have you considered removing the groan button?
I have never used it. It's generally the same people groaning all the time in any case. Such behaviour is pathetic. In other words it's basically meaningless. Just try to ignore it. It's unhappily, simply another form of bullying.

Shocking. Anyway it's a new day, the sun is shining, take a deep breath everyone, realise that EF is not life or death, be glad you and your loved ones are safe, and have a good day.

Re: st2lemans banned

Would it not be easier to simply relabel the "Thanks" and "Groan" buttons to "A well made post" and "you're an idiot" buttons.

Admittedly that would require far more work on my part to click the "you're and idiot" button on every post, but I am willing to make that sacrifice for the well being of the forum.

For giggles - perhaps a mod could add a "pedant" flag to a user's profile so that the "you're an idiot" button becomes a "your an idiot" button

In general:
Lots of green rep - been around a long time, knows the forum, knows the country, helpful, with opinions
Some green rep - been around, dabbles occasionally in forum life, harmless
Grey - trying to stay out of trouble to sell something
Some red rep - came on abusing Switzerland and/or legends, trying to sell something over priced, asks the occasional stupid question, has little search skills
Lots of red rep - plumtree, trolls a lot, asks lots of stupid question, believes search is the Phoenician for "get someone else to do it"

IMHO there is little point in try to change the beast now - all you get are threads which are 18 times as long with 2/3 of the contents being.

"I agree"
"You agree that all Muslims should be shot"
"I disagree"
"You just agreed"
"No I agreed with the post before"
"I disagree"
"I disagree"
"^^ yes"
"I agree"
"You agree with who?"
"Its whom"
"It's actually"
"Its It's actually"
"I agree"

I don't like your opinion - never have and never will. For example you don't like people insulting you but you call people who use the long established groan functionality "pathetic".

(You also have never used the Thanks button so you are basically "egal" to every post on EF)

Saying that you never will like my opinion is simply prejudice based on what you have already read. You can't know that we may have the same opinion about something, we just haven't found that topic yet.

Wrong! I didn't call the people pathetic. I called the behaviour pathetic. There's a clear difference. You obviously didn't read my post properly.

You'll find for good, thoughtful, kind-hearted answers to my queries, I have thanked in writing, which means more that clicking a single button. A lot of clicking is clearly done willy-nilly given the numbers involved. There is no obligation to utilize either button. Moreover a huge proportion of the groaning is totally meaningless and plain bullying. I'm not a part of that and don't want to be.

You've made 804 posts to date - so I'm guessing my opinion is not going to change. Calling peoples behavior pathetic is, as you say, not insulting. I consider your behavior pathetic.

Clicking buttons takes a great deal of skill, you are underestimating it. For example 94% of idiots newbies can't click on the "Search" button.

This comment is basically your way of openly insulting anyone who joins the forum well after you joined. You simply feel that 94% of people joining the forum are idiots. You're bullying people before you even know who they are, before they have even joined! What kind of person are you? To know that there are people out there like you makes me really despondent.

Re: st2lemans banned

OK, I think this thread is done. The reasons for the bans (although a days time out could hardly be described as a ban) have been given, and at the moment the thread seems to be beginning to cause the behaviour that resulted in those bans in the first place.

I not a great fan of excluding people from the forum, so please let's try to avoid any further "naughty step" bans today.

And in case anyone's in any doubt, this means that taking the name-calling that's been going on in this thread to other places will not be tolerated.
