Minor Gripe

Dear Mods,
I know you do a thankless task for which I am very grateful. I dread to think what a mess this place would be were you not around to keep order. Certainly a task I wouldn't like to do.

Anyhow, I can't help thinking that recently you've become a little trigger happy. With deleting posts, closing threads and perhaps even with the bans. I know most of the time these are done with good intentions and it can be necessary, but it does sometimes take the fun out of EF...

I guess what I'm saying is in future, rather than closing a thread down or deleting something straight away, perhaps just let a discussion run a little further before taking action. Thanks!

I think they do let them run - perhaps longer than they should in many cases.

All the mods are wise and display neutrality in all their decisions.

I don't expect neutrality, Mods are forum members like the rest of us and it's great they participate as such.

The only reason other than obvious sexism, racism etc. I see for closing threads are when the discussion goes off topic to personal insults and name calling. And even then there has to be some leeway in the context of what's been posted.

Re: Minor Gripe

Sometimes I think EF has a bit of an identity crisis. It's one of the reasons I've been reluctant to post in the past. There's this undercurrent toward organizing related information, not duplicating content, and resurrecting threads that have been closed for months or years instead of simply starting a new topic.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that approach, particularly if the goal is to be a repository of useful, curated content and knowledge. However, I often get the feeling that many people come here expecting sort of a communal chat house building on established familiarity and interaction. At times the two approaches are at odds.

The new mod has certainly been a bit enthusiastic in deleting/editing/closing threads down in my opinion.
Hopefully she'll calm down a bit once she's settled into the job.( it's happened with other new mods in the past too.)

That, and quite often what we see is only a portion of what is going on in the background - private abuse, posts that are pulled down before anyone really sees them... there is more than meets the eye

The problem is that sometimes EF members like you seem to think you run the place with your constant opinions supported by your little gangs too but you are too lazy to be mods. You also have a hard time accepting anyone with more authority than you on here and by default that makes it hard for the mods, especially in recent posts where you are even instructing them on how they run things (your previous post on this threads also shows this).

Richdog is just an idiot who will do the tit for tat thing too with rep but by his own lack of intelligence is quite harmless, you though are the ultimate manipulator who really cares more about your reputation and stature on here in a very unhealthy, obsessive manner.

Recently though I see you lost a couple of pals on here who don't post anymore, I wonder if they were prompted to realise how boring ganging up was or just got bored of themselves, or unlike you they had better things to do?

i believe 9 times out of ten that the mods are correct and what seems like harshness really is a way to keep many going further with their abuse, I sometimes wonder how many assholes there are living in Switzerland when I spend a little time on EF.

Any of you can say what you like about me, one thing that can't be truthfully said is that I spend anywhere as near as much time as any of you on here who contribute absolutely nothing mod-wise and only make it more difficult for them. Some like me, some don't...but at least they get a break from me.

I do. And no, mods are not forum members like the rest of us. Normally, a mod should facilitate the dialogue by toning down the members when things get a little bit out of hands, to ensure a civilized tone of any discussion. Should not gang up with aggressive users, should not prove their point by all means and act as if a user is their worst enemy..
There are a few mods who do a good job even here though. A couple of them...not really. They represent themselves and we better get used with it or just stop posting here.

No I don't. You don't know me, what makes you think you do?

You are one of many who are often abusive and hurtful to others on here who openly post and may be in need of help. The OP partly refers to a member who was suggesting that someone who was down should be interested in a link for Dignitas. How can anyone justify that? And you blow hot and cold and can be very nasty too, when someone opposes you, you chicken out.

The less abusive cowards on here the better I think. I'm going nowhere (unless of course I'm banned again).

I had a thread title modified by a fairly recent mod, to have it changed again by an even more recent mod. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.

It isn't complicated psychology. The sheer amount you refer to bullying, gangs, cliques, me and others is a basic signifier of a lot of pent up frustration that you just can't seem to let go of, and the more you mention them and say that you "don't care" the more you show the opposite. It almost borders on mild obsession.
