| | | [How to] Quoting others
OK, I might be considered a dummy for this question but I`m gonna ask anyhow...I don`t seem to be able to reply to posts and get those neat little quotes from the relevant section of someone elses reply to come up. I get a whole chunk of text and not in a blue box. Come on, I give up, tell me please!! |

As long as the text is in between these tags (notice the / in the second tag) it will be quoted.

It's all in what's called bbcode. It's a markup language which is somewhat similar to HTML/XML/SGML.

As a rule, please indicate when the quite has been trimmed by inserting ellipsis (three dot symbol indicating an incomplete statement...) or writing "Snip".
Also, if you are going to edit people's statements, please do not in any way alter what they have said or misquote them. This can get you banned.
One more thing when editing quotes. DO NOT edit the tags. A persons quote will begin with | Quote: | | | | [ quote ] | | | | | and end with | Quote: | | | | [ /quote ] | | | | | If you so much as accidentally delete one of the "[" or "]" brackets, you end up with a mess that someone has to fix.
So, if you edit quotes, do it properly, click the "Preview Post" button before Submitting your response to make sure that everything is formatted correctly else make the necessary adjustments.

Also, if you are going to mis-quote people's statements for comedy affect, please alter what they have said or misquote them. This can get you squirrels, ice-cream, free beer, exemption from parking tickets and a pay rise. | | | | | As Natasha would have said I fixed that | | The following 5 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |

| | | Quoting more than one person
in the same thread - can somebody teach me how to do that or refer me to the correct thread?
I think I am becoming a high maintenance poster because some of posts have to get merged into one. LOL, it's embarrassing to look like you know how to do something when you really don't know how.
Somebody please explain to me?
Goal: To quote from more than one poster within one of my posts.
Thanks.

Thanks. | | | | | Do you see the smaller button next to the QUOTE button? That allows you to multi quote. It will show up with all the posts of the other posters that you have selected with that multi quote button, once you hit the POST REPLY button.

Oh man oh man.......I need to go and sit in the corner with the dunce hat on.
So do I use the multi-quote button from the last poster? I just tried it and it didn't work. All it did was turn red but I didn't see the post. edited to add: ok tried editing this with the multi-quote and that didn't work either. I'll just sit here and wait for some kind tutor to come along.......la la di da da......

Last quote -hit quote. If you don't believe me, read the link Carlos gave earlier. The bit you need is in the second post by 22 yards I think.
