Unwanted private email!

Just received what I would consider politically offensive private email in my box. How do these people find their way into private message boxes? Please can you inform us how to avoid this happening again forum administrators?
Please delete this from my box and credit me with the one space used up.
TIA

No worries. I suggest you select and delete off the offending messages, thus making space in your mailbox.

Re: Unwanted private email!

If it was from a spammer with a username of Like_Water, credit actually goes to another moderator who was quick with the ban hammer ( he was in another timezone actually ).

We try to keep the forum free of spam. It helps if the offending PM is immediately forwarded to any moderator for immediate action.

If it was email, rather than PM, your profile allows people to send you them. http://www.englishforum.ch/profile.php?do=editoptions If you don't want email, or PM other than from Mods, just change your settings.

Surprised the Mods didn't tell you that themselves.

Re: Unwanted private email!

I got an email yesterday evening telling me I'd gotten a PM from someone on here. The text of the PM was in the email, and I'm fairly sure that it was the same one this thread is about (if it's not, forgive me).

However, when I logged in to check it last night,..

..there was no PM. It was gone... like it never happened....

Spooky...

That's because the really on the ball administrators/moderators blocked this really politically offensive email before it could be sent to any other members.

I think I'm going to stick with the "Ghosts did it" Explanation. I think it creates a deeper sense of mystery to the work of the Mods.
