| | | Have we disappeared?
For me, the normal www.englishforum.ch link no longer works. I can 'get in' by using a link to a specific forum which I already had in my favourites column. If I click 'Home' I get Database error The English Forum Switzerland database has encountered a problem. Please try the following: - Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
- Open the www.englishforum.ch home page, then try to open another page.
- Click the Back button to try another link.
The www.englishforum.ch forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience. I've no idea how other folk are logging in. I thought it might be just me having difficulties until I saw Natasha's post.

One way into the Forum for those who are in the know is to Google 'where can I buy self-raising flour' which enables folk to come in via 'Food and Drink'. | | The following 6 users would like to thank Longbyt for this useful post: | |

Strangely enough, I am not having any problems, aside from when I click "home".

In the meantime I suggest people keeping googling self raising flour as per Longbyts suggestion |

I suppose quite a lot of folk normally come in via the basic Home link though and will think that the whole Site is down when they get the text which I showed above.
It might be a very quiet weekend.
Actually, when I first found I couldn't get onto the Site with my usual 'click', I thought maybe my moaning about the lack of 'Ignore Thread' and 'Ignore Forum' options since the newest update, might have caused Editor Bob to make a new 'Ignore Longbyt' button for himself.
Natasha's post saying that she had the same trouble was a GREAT relief.

To answer the thread question: I have not but my shadow has. (Dog!)
By the way, I got into EF through a link in my email notification.

I can only access from an e-mail link from a subsribed thread.
The bookmark leads me to the same error message. (Safari, Mac OSX, btw)

Finally found my way in through an obscure URL which I'd memorised. Given the seemingly relative lack of activity today I guess most people are having this problem
I take it that EB is the only person who has admin rights and can fix the problem? Not that I'm complaining about EB - he does a great job keeping the forum running. It's just that if he's indisposed for a period of time then there's nobody else that can take the reins so to say.

It's just the home page that is down. My Learned Companion says it is a problem with flesh chat or something.
I don't understand. Must be a Mid Western thing...

Came via a google link. The URL englishforum.ch doesn't work. It's much better with fewer posts, I think it should stay like this...

Boomark http://www.englishforum.ch/usercp.php and not only will it get around this temporary problem, but I find it a nice way into the forums generally.

Same error on my laptop and iPhone altogether as Longbyt pointed it out. Have tried to access the site from link and google search. All the time same message displayed - database error. Just tried it one more time now and it seems to be working again... but for how long?
