One touch ban and clean?

I saw a link to a 'One-touch ban and clean', was too scared to press it to see what it does. Anyone know?

Re: One touch ban and clean?

It is used to ban a user, normally one who has posted Spam, and delete all their posts at the touch of a button. I don't know why you could see it though unless someone has given you the rights to do this.

I've got it too.

Don't worry - it doesn't work unless you have been granted the power.

Re: One touch ban and clean?

It is allocated to spam-deputy team. If you have a right to use it you should be very careful whom you are kicking out from the EF. Basically, you can ban newbies who are spammers and occassional idiots and delete unwanted content. I would be surprised if yours is enabled.

It shouldn't be there for all to see, small error, I am sure it will be removed soon

Re: One touch ban and clean?

i've just banned + cleaned slaphead (kidding...but where did your post go?)

i think there is a glitch as i also have the button, DB has told me it won't work but i'm not going to risk it...

IMO i think we should all wait to see what the admin/mods have to say before we all go crazy with it ...

edit:just saw nicky's post above

Thanks for that, I needed a good banning and cleaning . I feel so much better now .

As for the post, well I deleted it as I didn't read the thread properly, and realised that my questions had already been answered, thus rendering the post redundant. Hey I may not be a mod but at least I can moderate my own stuff

Re: One touch ban and clean?

If it was inadvertantly enabled, you would only be able to ban New Members when they first join. It would not enable you to ban established members.

Only the mod team can do that

Re: One touch ban and clean?

'One touch ban and clean' is a nifty bit of kit in a Mods armoury which was developed to international acclaim in the software / vBulletin world by the very founder and architect of this site: Mark Fyvie (RIP) See 'props' on my signature for more about the man.

Re: One touch ban and clean?

There are safeguards - one of which is to not allow a OTB+C on a FM who has been member for longer than a given time or made a number of posts.

I won't say more because the thresholds should remain secret. I have seen spammers register on forums and leave the account unused for some time.....

..... is it just me or can others see a link when looking at a user profile for the good old "one touch ban and clean" ? Was taking a look at Hannu and the temptation to click it was high. Very high.
