Free IKEA desk and office chair

Free to a good home:

1 IKEA desk - 150 x 75, including cable tray (underneath at rear)
1 IKEA office chair, black

Approx 200 francs value, free if you'd like to come and collect it. The desk is currently disassembled for easy transport, but can be easily reassembled.

I'm giving it away because I recently replaced it. The desk and chair look like the one on the left in this picture:

It's also very similar to the current IKEA desk called, well... "Jerker":

Re: Free IKEA desk and office chair

Does the triple TFT setup come with it?

May I ask what you use a triple TFT set up for? Are you using them separately or as a continuous desktop?

Re: Free IKEA desk and office chair

Ummm, let me think about that for a second..... no.

3 screens is simply an extension of two. Almost everyone can plug in a second monitor to their second video port, then it's just a question of telling XP that there is a second screen and you get an extended desktop - no extra drivers or special software needed.

Since screens are so damn cheap these days there's almost no excuse not to have a second screen.

To add the third screen I had to get a second video card, but that wasn't a drama.

I find it difficult to work with a single screen these days, I don't know how you all manage

The trick is also to choose a TFT with a very thin border - makes life easier. I've also thought of adding more screens (like another row along the top), but it starts to get difficult on the neck.

Re: Free IKEA desk and office chair

When I had 17" screens I ran two, but a 19" single is enough for me at the moment.

I did once see a single card for 3 screens, but it was damned expensive. Right now I have to save my money.

Re: Free IKEA desk and office chair

The boyfriend of a friend of mine is a Swiss trader of something or other in Asian markets, so he works at home to follow the Eastern trading day. He has eight screens in a two-up, four-across array.

That has to be the most scary home IT setup I have ever seen.

I feel puny with my little 17" iMac. Bah.

Just like my profile says - Zollikon

In case you don't know where it is about 5 minute's drive from Bellevue along the lake. PM for more details if interested.
