| | | [Now Free!] Indian style bed [Aargau]
Hello;
Due to getting an almost new bed from my sons grandmother (who is now in an old folks home) I need to sell a Queen size bed and mattress which I bought from an EF member a couple of months ago.
This is a very big bed, approx 200*190 and is a very comfy one.
This is not a typical modern product and is made of solid wood (and is bloody heavy) and the mattress is a firm one. The person who sold it too me said it cost 900 CHF
The price I am asking for is 200 CHF (I think it is worth it) for the bed and mattress together and is available immediately.
If you are interested you can PM me.
Not trying to be negative, but, the only problems are that is is in kanton Aargau (Schinznach Bad) and that you would probably need a van or two journeys in a big car to take it home. It dismantles into 8 pieces and two pieces of wood - very simple to assemble with no tools.
PS Red sheet not included

Decided I just need to move the bed from my house. We do not have enough storage. Also in 3 weeks we are re-tiling our house.
Price now one beer. (not obligitary)
Hope I can find a home for it - otherwise it heads for recycling

I've seen it and it is a nice piece of furniture. It is big and bloody solid so John is right about the moving.

Very available. There seems to be a problem with transport with the few people who have shown interest.
As I am giving it away, (and losing some money in the process), I would expect anyone who wanted it to provide their own transport - not expect me to deliver it.
First person who can come up with some transport can have the bed.
Otherwise next Wednesday (26th may), I will drive it to the recyling place in Brugg - I need to lay some tiles in this room at the end of the month.
Just PM me if you are interested AND have transport. I will help you carry it to your transport - then it is your bed
Cheers J

If it helps at all, there is a place in Villigen, not too far from Brugg, where you can hire a van at a reasonable cost. http://www.pichler-wegmuller.ch/
Under "Mietwagen" you can see the prices.

I must admit, most of the people who have contacted me do not really understand the concept of "free" - as in "bugger all"
They want to make an appointment to view the so said "antique", ask lots of questions about the history and pedigree, expect me to drive it 60 KM to their new Wohnung and hang around for a whole weekend waiting for them to contact me. (ditto last weekend)
Not being racist, but every one who called me was Indian. (I have got lots of good Indian friends at work and in UK, but they speak proper English and understand the word "free")
I think I would prefer to dump it like I have with 20Ks worth of other stuff over the last few years, because I cannot be arsed interacting with sad Twa*s on ricado and ebay and - sorry to say EF
Please excuse me, but it was a hard work week for me and I had so many calls from people who have no clue about CH and etiquette - just "I wanna bed". I was looking for a normal person who wants a bed and I was just aiming to help save some expenditure for someone who did not have too much money.
If any sensible, coherent person wants this nice bed - you have til Wednesday. If you take it and if do not like it, I will help you dispose of the bed - BUT IT IS NICE - even my wife likes it. Only problem is;, that our house is too small.
Cheers - enjoy Whit Monday

Advice:
This is what you get for trying to give something away. People equate price with value, nowhere more than in Switzerland. Whack up the price to 15000 CHF, take out adverts in specialist antique magazines etc and market it as a handmade hardwood antique bedframe from India. | Quote: | | | | | I must admit, most of the people who have contacted me do not really understand the concept of "free" - as in "bugger all"

I want zero money from this - I think the only problem is that I am not in ZH.
But even if it was 500 M, you would still need a van.
My best friend is an antiques dealer in the kings Road in London - I am sure he could do as you suggest - he had sold a lot worse stuff to Arabs-alas I am here in CH

| | | | | Sorry your experience has been really negative but I have sold things here and can say that there are members who are serious and do not waste your time.
Many people do not have a valid Driver's Licence here and cannot even rent a vehicle. I have offered to deliver items to people and sometimes that has made all the difference.
I realise you don't want to be out of pocket any further but it is going to cost you .40 rappen /kg to dump it in Brugg http://www.entsorgungs-park.ch/fs/start.htm plus you have to take it apart and get it there.
I hope you find a solution rather than dumping it.

I may be interested in the bed if its still availible. I wont need to stop by and see it as I know someone with this exact bed. (And I can vouch that its an expensive piece). My only issue is that it is big and I need to figure out if I can fit it in here.

Update.
The bed is burnt. (just been listening to the group Midnight Oil - "beds are burning" )
Paid 300 chf to my neighbor to take it to the incinerator in Birr.
Thanks for all the interest. I almost managed to give it away. Problem is my location I think.
Even tried the Brockenhaus in Hausen, but they are now selling new beds.I think they have lost sight of the concept of second hand.
