[NYC][Request] Spending time in LA: renting, or hotel ?

Hi all,

First time in New York in a few months, for a fortnight.
I'm planning a few things, and a place to stay.
What is the most convenient, between renting an appartment, or booking hotel ?
I don't have any starting point at the moment, so please feell free to teach me a little
