UK House Prices measured in Gold

Interesting graphic showing UK House Prices measured in gold ounces.

This makes prices in the UK look cheap.

Re: UK House Prices measured in Gold

If the UK population were paid in gold instead of GBP, that might mean something...

Re: UK House Prices measured in Gold

Measured in gold house prices in the UK are still dropping Not only generally in the UK but in the London area also. Anyone who limits themselves to thinking only in pounds is missing the reality of what is happening.

How much gold does it cost to buy a home in Britain?

First off, surely Swiss Francs should be the only measure of interest on this forum. Secondly, while it may be that the price of gold is important as an economic measure, and I'm sure it's the case that house prices are, why on earth would anyone be interested in the relationship between the two?

Re: UK House Prices measured in Gold

exactly what point are you trying to make?? gold prices have increased 5 fold since 2003, so measuring house prices against gold prices is totally meaningless.

Try reading the article. Maybe there's an answer to your question there.
My simple answer would be that for many people gold is a vehicle for saving money.

Are you sure it isn't the value of paper money that has dropped?
