Marseille tends to be kinda grey and dumpy in the winter.

One of the things that is nice is that area of France gets warmer faster than here, so I always make a trip down (usually to Montpellier) in April or early May and enjoy the weather.

So I vote Marseille, but not for a few months.

hmmm I am partil to Amsterdam as I used to live in NL and I love it. Everything is open on Sundays and until late (OK except government offices) and it is a great place to party...

Berlin or A'dam - both excellent cities I never get tired of visiting, in particular Berlin. So much to do there, even in winter.
