Paris on New Year's Eve

Looking for tips on what to do on a new year's eve in Paris... I just booked a trip with family (30.12 - 1.1). Hotel is right next to Eiffel Tower. Might go to Disney during day.

Any tips from your experience on where to be (or where not to be!) during that time in Paris. We'll be going with our 9 month old daughter and would like to avoid too crowded places - although it will be almost impossible considering the time of year we'll be there.

Any tips would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

TIP - Got some good deals on TGV and hotel (early bird). If anyone else is interested in booking a trip, this is the right time - remember, most hotels require a minimum 3-nights sty during Christmas and New Year. There still seem to be some available for 1-2 nights.

Re: Paris on New Year's Eve

If you didn't have your daughter with you I'd say the Champs élysées is a blast on new year's. You'll get kissed by completely strange men and women wishing you a happy new year, it's a good laugh. Unfortunately it seems like the whole city crowds there so it tends to get super busy. Make sure you get to see the fireworks, they are grand. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding out what to do in Paris, I mean c'mon, it's Paris! Make sure you get a little metro/sights map, they are free at tourist information points and are super handy. Hmmm, now that I think of it, you'd probably have a grand view of the city during the fireworks displays if you go to the Sacre Coeur on the butte de Montmartre.
