If you didn't have your daughter with you I'd say the Champs élysées is a blast on new year's. You'll get kissed by completely strange men and women wishing you a happy new year, it's a good laugh. Unfortunately it seems like the whole city crowds there so it tends to get super busy. Make sure you get to see the fireworks, they are grand. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding out what to do in Paris, I mean c'mon, it's Paris! Make sure you get a little metro/sights map, they are free at tourist information points and are super handy. Hmmm, now that I think of it, you'd probably have a grand view of the city during the fireworks displays if you go to the Sacre Coeur on the butte de Montmartre. For more info:
