| Re: Mean things that YOU did in the PAST
I recently walked away from a beggar when she asked me to go to the chemist with her and buy some medicine for her sick child. At first I was a bit distrustful but with hindsight regret not taking her word for it that her child was sick.
As a first or second year student nurse , a man with one leg was admitted to the ward I was working on in a very distressed state. He was reaching out to me and wanted me to hold his hand (he was unable to communicate properly). I was busy so just drew the curtains round his bed and left him alone. When I went back half an hour later he was dead and so I effectively left someone alone to die, a fact which haunts me even today.
As a child of about 10 years a group of boys approached me and asked me if I was friends with a girl they were obviously tormenting. I did know the girl who was a bit "backward", and I said no she was not my friend. They then continued tormenting her but I do regret not saying that she was my friend so that maybe they would have left her alone.
