things to do in philly- sorry for the non-swiss topic..

Apologies for posting such a non-Switzerland related question on here, but I thought there might be some folks here who have been to Philly and could advise me.. I'm off to philadelpha for work and added 3 days of holidays. What are the best things to do there? I'm not all too interested in American history, I'm afraid.. Thus, (apologies to the Americans on here) I'm not keen on seeing the liberty bell, the Franklin museum or the State Penitentiary..So far, I want to do the Mural walk and visit the art museum (including running up the steps.. )
Any tips welcome...

http://www.collegeofphysicians.org/mutter-museum/ I think its a cool museum (my husband hated it), too much gross stuff for him, but I think its fascinating.

We actually felt the same way you did about the museums so we just spent a day riding on the trolleys (as Americans call their trams) and hopping off any place that took our fancy. We got to see a fascinating cross-section of the fabric of an American city and learnt more about the USA than any tourist guide book could tell us.

The Franklin Institute is actually a science museum - pretty cool and would be fun for kids (or nerds even in you are in your 30s like me).

The "Old City" area has a lot of nice restaurants, bars, and clubs. I think there is a good comedy club but forget the name, maybe Helium. There is also South Street which is the more alternative section but also has many bars and little shops. Finally, you should go to get an authentic Philly cheese steak (it should be Geno's or Pat's but this is a long debate). The area of town looks a bit sketchy, but I have never has an issue there. You will also pass through the italian market on the way there, can get good olives, sausages, cheeses, etc.

Have fun
