As I am sure many Americans have done since moving to CH, I bought at 10.5 Kilo Turkey for Thanksgiving only to discover that it does not fit in my oven. I have made room in my freezer but I hate to think of it going to waste. (I am a vegetarian and none of my guests would take the extra turkey.) Would anyone be interested in it? I suppose the turkey might fit in our oven, but we learned recently that our trusty old roasting pan does not (about 1cm too wide).

The biggest turkey I ever had to fit into my (Swiss size) oven weighed 11kg... I had to kick that bird to get it in It turned out yummy all the same.

It's exactly what I was thinking: a vegetarian buying a turkey??!!
We were invited to a friend's house for dinner, they are muslim, they don't drink wine, and they didn't have any which I respect although with the very good meal she cooked a glass of wine would have been welcomed!

For traditional occasions, some principles have to temporarily go out the window (unless one is a vegan).

A Thanksgiving nut roast doesn't quite cut it.
