What I'm doing for Christmas

Most of the auslanders/expats/black sheep I know are leaving Switzerland to return to their home countries for Christmas. Personally I am staying in the hope that more snow falls over the festive season. What about everyone else...

Quick straw poll to see who stays... who leaves... and who goes in search of a few rays of sunshine.

We're here again for Christmas. I now have three UK Christmases in the bank. Almost decided to go over for a flying visit Boxing day to New Year but the hubby couldn't get tickets to a Liverpool game so that put the kybosh on the plan.

Will just have to stay here and hope for a couple of days skiing, babysitter permitting...

Re: What I'm doing for Christmas

Road trip through scenic France and to Spain. It won't be exactly hot there either, but the food and wine and sheer beauty of the place are enough reason.

Maybe we will also check out the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Merry x-mas!

Re: What I'm doing for Christmas

Nah. If I want heat and sun for xmas, I'll go back home where the mercury seldom goes below 40C on xmas day.

Instead, I'll be getting pampered by the in-laws up in Westphalia, with more christmas cooking, cake, and obscure German beers than I can handle.

I hear you on that, but after weeks of going to work and getting home in the dark, I am hankering for some sunlight.

Edit: Question answered.

We'll be celebrating "Christkindli" here in the land of cheese an chocolate on the 23rd, with Christmas Cake and turkey on Christmas Eve, thinking of a warm place to be on the 25th and Bah Humbug that it's all over on the 26th - Until the New Year, that is, when the next party is planned

I shall be surpassing myself in the kitchen (so only one call out to the fire brigade) and eating an entire month's salary in the form of sugar, possibly baked into things, but maybe just straight out of the packet.

Re: What I'm doing for Christmas

We are at home, hopefully eating an edible dinner and not setting fire to the living room with the candles on the tree.
