I just happen to have a different opinion to you that's all.

Has nothing to do with any of the other crap you're talking about.
An opinion which refuses to be informed - which would be fine were we talking about favourite colours or Beatles' members but not so much when it comes to the rights of human beings not to have parts of their bodies lopped off without their consent.

Re: Circumcision: right or wrong?

I'm glad I had girls, we didn't even have to discuss mutilating our daughters private parts - lucky us.

My sister on the other hand had her sons circumsised to match their father. Gross.

Also I got my kids tattooed at birth. I had my favourite so lyric etched into their buttocks. Coz religion.

Get a grip! We're not talking about chopping kids' balls off!

Anyway, I would say I'm more informed than you about this and its effects. You're the one not informed and trying to preach your ignorance onto others.

A shame you don't make a difference between total removal and partial medical removal. Limitations limitations...

Re: Poll: Surgical removal of the prepuce covering the glans.

I know of no medical reasons for FGM- ever, so this option is 'de trop'.

I don't think many adult male men who were as you say 'abused', share your view. Perfectly happy & not bothered in any way up until they become sexually active. When they find out that a lot of women are very happy they are cut & they get more 'abused' by women

For total removal, indeed, no justification in the medical field in the 21st century. But phimosis must be treated and qualifies as medical justification for cutting just the little part off that leaves a normal prepuce back. Huge difference between total removal and this little incision. I've also heard of some kind of bad placed cysts where quite a part of the prepuce can't be saved.

Interestingly the World Health Organisation is in favour as it reduces the risk of HIV / AIDS.

Besides the point though- OH would agree, he was 'done' for religious reasons, and I have not complaints But it is irrelevant to the basic principle. By the time his little brother was born in the UK, away from religious pressures- they chose not to do this for him, as they saw the pain and battled with the infection that ensued, and just couldn't put another child through this. OH in his professional experience also had to deal with the consequences of many bodged circumcisions and infections. With RSA rife in many hospitals, why take the risk anyhow.

Is AIDS rife in Switzerland?

Removal of the prepuce? Not that I am aware of.
FGM where the clitoris is partely removed. Yes, there are some medical reasons. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15211407 If they are actually Good Medical Practice is another heated discussion .

Remember: This poll is about the prepuce and no other body parts.

Done for 'religious' reasons OK, but not the choice of the parents is a very slippery slope.

Churches & Abuse is not unheard of......

Re: Poll: Surgical removal of the prepuce covering the glans.

... and so is parental choice for abuse, surely? What other reason apart from religious would there be to circumcise a baby? I mean, if it is just for looks, or to match with daddy... etc- then why not get the ears and nose done at the same time?

Is AIDS rife in Switzerland?
Switzerland has 4 times as many cases per capita as Germany, Finland, Norway or Malta so yes it's rife in CH

Well 33% higher than the UK.

So the Swiss are not as squeaky clean as they think.......

A lot easier to wear a condom no? A more intelligent solution, and a bit less drastic!

I believe that stand point is based on a study with a sample set experiencing high HIV risks and low to zero protection method usage (I believe somewhere in Africa).

If one is relying on circumcision to minimize their HIV risk--then they seriously have some other intelligence issues.

I also would wager that certain types of FGM would yield similar results--but I'm guessing, a study into that would be near to impossible.
