I need a new Li battery for both my Dell Latitude D400 and my IBM Thinkpad R52. Does anyone know where I can buy such thinks in Zürich area ?

I am fed up with trying to get through to Dell on their premium number, and its not listed anymore on their website...

There used to be a shop called "The Portable Shop" - but it's now being closed down for some reason. The link leads to Fust, so you might get lucky there.

Like a couple of other companies, Dell likes to keep the replacement part business for themselves so it isn't easy to find them elsewhere. ARP Datacon offers many third party batteries for Dell laptops. I haven't found a replacement for the D400 though. Mabe I've missed it or it just isn't mentioned that the right battery is compatiple with a D400 too. You can test this by comparing the product numbers which are mentioned on the website. Search for "dell akku" to get the list. ARP is located in canton Schwyz but they have an online shop.

The Thinkpad battery should be easier to find, have you tried Digitec? Or you could search Ebay and Ricardo for both of them.

Still searching? On the ARP website, click on the drop down menu "Produktberater" and select "Notebook Akkus". The next step is to select Dell and the Latitude D410 which in all likelihood needs the same battery.

Click on the displayed article and the website will tell you that the product is currently out of stock but they'll organise it for you in 4-20 days for about 197 Fr. Fill out the form and tell them in the field "Mitteilungen" that you need a battery that is compatible with the D400... good luck.
