We have stick insects , but I am on the look out for a tortoise. I wonder how easy it would be to bring a baby in from the UK? Presumably it wouldn't need quarantine because it is cold blooded and can't carry rabies. will have to look into that I think.

Hey all,
Talking about snakes, I'm in the market for a Snake.
Just started looking, any advise? (owning in Switzerland that is, I've had snakes my whole life back in SA)
Looking for a python, Ball or Königpython, in that category.
Cheers

| | | Re: reptile fanatics Thanks for that info. We are aware of the responsibilities of tortoise ownership. Stupidly we got our daughter one when we lived in Bangkok. I wanted to take it to England when we left and leave it at my Mum's house. Long story short, she was on the CITES list and shouldn't even have been in Thailand. Felt extremely daft for not checking when we got her but the seller said she was native to north Thailand (which I suppose she was in a way - Burma is north). Dude now lives happily with a friend who has a large house in BKK and who is going to be there for life as she's married to a wealthy Thai man.
TBH, since writing that I am rethinking my plan. I don't know how long we'll live here for and the trauma of trying to take a pet to a new country is not worth it. We'll carry on with our stick insects

This is a little story about a 5metre python.
In a town in Australia, (Kuranda, sounds QLD-ish to me), Mr and Mrs Peric and ankle-biters watched IN HORROR, as the 5m python digested the guinnea pig, consumed the cat and made a right dogs-dinner out of the chihuahau X. Now Mr Peric is concerned for the safety of his kids.
My question is; if you own widdle itsy pets WHY would you get a huge snake? Babysitter?
