Deadly snow storm in US

5 people killed in New York.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-30118783

Not nice.

But I did smile at the following sentence in the article.

"Temperatures across all 50 US states plummeted to freezing, and there were snow-related fatalities elsewhere."

What! Even Hawaii!

And no, I'm not talking mountain tops (they don't count). Average temps in Hawaii today are in the 70s Fahrenheit. So not QUITE freezing.

Re: Deadly snow storm in US

I hope your families and friends are safe

A huge blizzard has blanketed the US eastern seaboard in snow, bringing New York and Washington DC to a standstill and affecting some 85 million people.

What I do find strange, is that people have been told for days about this and told to not drive, stay indoors, etc- and yet there are people stranded in cars all over the place and so many car, truck accidents everywhere?!?

Re: Deadly snow storm in US

My family knew it well in advance and we even exchanged the info on FB. My cousin kept me updated on how many inches of snow have fallen in NJ Unfortunately not everyone was lucky enough and some people didn't manage to escape the blizzard.

Big deal, it's snowing.

Getting a bit bored with this snow thing. The news services must be really struggling to find something else to write about.

Well 2ft of snow in one day is a big deal. Of snow and all. Just sayin'. VTech threw a huge snowfight, thousands of regular students against a hundred cadets. Auch.

The fatalities caused by the storm are so sad, though, I wonder if preventable.

Re: Deadly snow storm in US

I'm still receiving the FB messages from the East Coast. It's still around 24" of snow. So far so good. If it is few feet and no internet connection then I shall know it first.

Granted it's never a good thing people dying, whatever the cause however the amount of media coverage this is getting is ridiculous.

As we are often told, people are being killed by their 100's everyday due to conflicts in various parts of the world and we have become quite blasť about such events.

Strange that most/all media outlets are reporting the same thing!

I fully agree with the earlier comments, regarding not taking heed of the advice given by the authorities and thinking they are invincible.
