Re: Bed arrangements with GrandPs

I would have no problem if any of my kids shared a bed with their grandparents. Unfortunately for us, at this point they only have grandmothers, but I would never have had qualms with them sleeping with either of their grandfathers when they were still alive. The situation never was present, as the kids were never at the grandparents without us, but I can't imagine me having a problem with it.

I guess one question would be who is requesting the situation - if it is the kid then no problem, if it is the adult, I guess it would be odd.

OF COURSE it's a cultural thing. Different cultures have all kinds of sleeping arrangements you or I might not be used to.

As far as I'm concerned, this is quite obviously something that has to be looked on a case by case basis. If everyone involved feels ok with it, then it's ok.

Ok, then don't let them sleep in their grandparent's bed.

Yes, I guess it is a cultural thing .... if the family come from a village in a rainforest, or some culture where entire family sleep together and its an accepted mode of life.

I find it rather strange that young girls would happily sleep in the same bed with an *old man* - especially a newcomer to the family who also has no blood ties? Besides which, old men gramps usually snore, are grumpy, irritable about being disturbed, etc etc. So if the blood-tie Granny wants kids in bed with them, then she`s being pretty dumb, I think.

Plus, I do think it is also unfair on the step-grandpa to put him in a situation that could prove embarrassing to him later on should the kids say something that could be mis-construed ...... and endanger his own reputation.

Sleeping on the floor (grandkids call it camping) is what I`ve experienced, and seen with my family here..... especially the boys - and the girls only in bed when Granny is alone.

Re: Bed arrangements with GrandPs

How about the grand kiddies sleep in the bed with their grandmother and the step grandad sleep on the sofa. He would get a better nights sleep and then any issues of him sharing are dealt with

To be honest 3 in a bed would just about be comfortable but 4 would be too many and no one would get any sleep who ever is sharing.

When my 5 year old wakes up in the night in wants in our bed.. I go to one of the the spare rooms or her bed! Yes it's uncomfy with a kid in the bed!

Still though, i wouldn't have an issue with her in the grandparents bed occasionally, for example if we were all staying at theirs, they only have a couple of bedrooms she's either on a blow up bed or in with us.

I think we're sexualising something that just isn't sexual -- under normal circumstances.

I really don't think such bed sharing is appropriate, if suitable accommodation is not available the kids should not stay there, end of story.

There is a good reason why the no of people when can live in an apartment in CH is mandated.

I don't think the arrangement is a permanent one in the OPs case.

I'd be careful, all males 65+ are peodos, same with gays don't let them near your kids every single one of them want to touch up your kid. As for grandma she will be the instigater in it all.

Do you have a brother called johnny, I.e uncle johnny?

What a fooked up world we live in now a days.
This thread is actually depressing.

Both OH and I have experienced sleeping with a grandmother at some point in our childhood during visits to grandparents. And neither of us comes from a "village in a rainforest" or from a culture where "the entire family sleep together"!!
