Re: 10 killed filming reality survival programme

Thank goodness that Top Gear only use a reasonably priced car to put a star in, to race around their track.

I think you're missing the point. It doesn't get much press coverage becasue they were foreign. If there'd been a brit aboard then the headline would have read "Briton killed in tragic accident" "(and some foreigners)".
What is the movie set in a New York newspaper? They have a daily meeting and somebody says
"30 people in an earthquake in xxxxxxx yesterday"
"Any NewYorkers killed?"
"No"
"OK, scrap that, what else you got?"

Re: 10 killed filming reality survival programme

They died on their way to wherever in helicoptors piloted by professionals.

If they died while doing a stupid stunt that they were insufficiently trained for, then you'd have a point. As it is, it's like being outraged because people died in a car crash on their way to work.

You might not like the format (and it's not my bag either), but clearly other people do. If the only entertainment broadcast was that which is universally liked, then there'd be no TV, film, theatre, music, radio, sports, etc.

Perhaps there should be a government office to determine what is allowed.

What a surprise.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-31809231

Why does it always take people dying for the powers that be to realise that these programmes are not the ones to make. It happened on the Late, Late Breakfast Show and has happened on others.

Wake up people! Not only are these the most boring programmes you can imagine - they kill people!

Condolences to their families and friends for their most untimely deaths.
I don't get it, the contestants weren't piloting, were they? So how is the accident related to the show?

If I'm filming a plane in the air and it crashes, am I at fault? How is this different??

I would be asking about traffic control in the area, not the nature of the show being filmed...

Re: 10 killed filming reality survival programme

extremely dangerous as per below:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gal...60/1-eric-hill

we must protect these attention seeking drama whores from getting their feelings hurt and killing themselves.

Besides getting sweaty, eating gross crap and having to sleep out under the stars (gasp - how barbaric), not sure where the danger lies.

There are plenty of things I don't like on a TV which are very popular with other people ( Doctor Who for example). The programmers cater for all tastes and some people clearly do like this sort of programme ( not me personally) so as long as that's the case they'll continue making them and rake in the advertising revenue generated by them.

It was a tragic accident probably caused by pilot error which cost 10 people their lives. Going up in a helicopter carries a certain amount of risk which they would all have been aware of beforehand. I don't see what difference banning these type of shows would make, it's not as though the celebrities were told to pilot the helicopters themselves to get there as part of the show is it?
