Re: fashion tip needed regarding white trousers

I would like to thank you all for the very interesting comments I actually enjoyed the thread very much and learned a thing or two. I won't be pairing the trousers with those sneakers, good job! I know I had some bad feeling about it and that's why I asked. On the other hand I have the right formal brown shoes for the Job too.

I think white trousers are very trendy, this specific slim canvas white model from Hackett is a complete blast ... you have to really see it and try it to get what I mean but they are by no means cheap.

PS: this other model from Geox "Sneakers Andrea" is a good fit:

Much better combination IMHO, though maybe a bit "dirtier" white for the trousers so they better match the sneakers tone might be even better. The colors on the sneakers give you the option of red or green (maybe brown) socks.

Oh I ignored that denial metaphoric comment, I have an auto-ignore for haters/antagonizers they just irradiate their boring/frustrated lives. They tend to always dress in black or dark grey, and look like penguins because they are supposed to.

Yes, these work really well. The darker ones, not so much.

Nice summer outfit, if I may say so

not sure I like the upside down Italian flag look - definitely the boaters or brogues, or loafers (w/o socks). You don't want to look like cousin Vinny

Re: fashion tip needed regarding white trousers

Actually Mr. Machaivelli,

I'm coming round to it, I think that I saw a similar outfit on Usher, I'll see if I can find a picture, if you think you can swing an Usher then it might work.

Look at JFK under May 2012

http://www.magnificentbastard.com/channels/ask-the-MB

Ask the MB: White Pants

May 23, 2012Q: The MB-ness of white jeans has been well documented, but what about white cotton dress pants? Denim is too casual, but I would like to step it up at work this summer.
—Dave

A: White pants.

White pants!

WHITE +++++++ PANTS!

Were we previously not clear on the MB-ness of white pants? Sorry.

On summer days when we're not wearing blue jeans or white jeans, we're wearing white pants. However, they're not without their challenges, namely finding them and keeping them clean.

For the former, we have YOOX's white pants latest arrivals on speed dial. If there is a bigger collection of white pants outside of a Naval Academy graduation, let us know. For the latter, just make sure your wife/girlfriend/launderer is aware of the stain-fighting power of Ivory + OxyClean. They're going to need it.

I agree. Important with white legwear IMO is that one doesn't wear an equally sparkling white top (unless it's combined with a darker jacket/suit jacket e.g. like in the color of OP's picture guy's shirt). The white-and-green-and-red sneakers go well because it gives the combo a casual feel. But if you're going to combine with a suit/formal-looking top I think that you should either wear darker sneakers or fancier black/dark brown/navy shoes.

Females have an advantage there - wear a white dress combined with the sandals of your choice and forget about pants

Fashion fauxpas or not - I like white clothes and don't see why only medical professionals or cooks should wear them.

For some reason I always ended up wearing white pants at 'that time of the month'. I think it was a subconscious paranoia about keeping it clean. I would be out and think " OH NO I wore white pants again!" then have to spend the rest of the day constantly running to the bathroom to check.

Just had to mention that- carry on!

Hahaha nice one, all clothes will get dirty and need washing and white is no exception ... I will simply bring it to a good laundry service. I get no stress on this.

Besides, what better country than Switzerland to wear white??? here everything is so clean and tidy. I would not dear to wear white in e.g. Cuba, with all those smoky vehicles and specially the locally known "Camel Bus" will make your white pants black on the spot.

Re: fashion tip needed regarding white trousers

I love the trousers. Don't love the Geox things. Geox... just no!

Get a nice pair of shoes.

But, my suggestion is to put on the sneakers with the trousers and post a pic. That's the only way we can make a determination.

Re: fashion tip needed regarding white trousers

I am sure that your white trousers are a good quality but makesure that you have good underwear beneath. I went to a meeting once with a guy with white trousers that were very thin and he appeared to have nothing on underneath
Same with ladies and white trousers that are a bit thin and see through - NEVER wear white panties always beige/offwhite.

Re: fashion tip needed regarding white trousers

The pants are great. Really nice, chic and light. I wouldn't pair them with casual sport shoes but the slightly formal pair the guy on the photo has. It's elegant and somewhat a statement. Sport shoes will not make the pants stand out at all.

The dark Geox I would wear with darker pants.

Or boyfriend- let's not be 'exclusionist'.

I LOVE white trousers, bought my first cream trouser suit at 14. I have 3 pairs in my wardrobe, one flowing satin flared, just too fat at the moment. I love white tights too, and thigh high white socks, and stockings, but you have to be slim to pull it off.

I'm not that slim so the only white trousers I have are very casual, and I wear them only during summers.

Can't say I dislike white jeans etc., but few ladies can wear them without the risk of being vulgar or a tad ridiculous. White stockings are for schoolgirls, I adored them when I was little.

This.

Pure white trousers were unfashionable in the 90's. If you want lighter colours wear look at these for examples of decent onesthat are light without being white https://www.google.ch/search?q=stone...w=1177&bih=533

The sneakers could look ok, but make sure you don't get super slim trouders/chinos that don't fit over the top of the trainer or they will look ridiculous.

Best would be to combine them with a comfortable pair of loafers or smart shoes https://www.google.ch/search?q=stone...+loafers+shoes
