US Green card question

Hello All,

If this is not the right area, please move it to the right one, mod(s) .. thank you.

I have some questions around US green card. My situation is rather unique/odd, covering continents .... I posted my question to the forum on www.path2usa.com ... 81 views but no one answered, yet.

is there a better forum for me to ask? Any experts on this topic on this forum, please? For the moment, I'm not inclined to seek legal services on this ... just need to do some discovery first ... to that effect, i'm happy to discuss with said experts .... initially on a pro-bono basis and then there may be possibilities ....

MFG,

Re: US Green card question

There are probably some folks here that have been through the process, but without any information or an actual question to answer, I am not sure how much help you'll get. If your post there was as vague as it is here...

Not saying you need to go into your life story, but a little more info might be a good start.

Re: US Green card question

@3wishes. thanks for the post.

on the other website, I did provide quite a bit of details, but under a different user name.

However, someone from this list PM'd me and we had a very good discussion. He was very helpful and knew what he was talking about. He gave me the information I needed and more, to act on.

Cheers ....

Re: US Green card question

I did some more research. My situation is that:

- the F3 visa category is approved and I'm waiting on the visa number (there re quotas). 3+ years wait still ...
- For family reasons, I'd like to try and expedite the green card process.
- my son can file an IR-5/I-130

Intial questions are:
- can the convertion from F3 to IR5/I-130 category even be done? would I need to withdraw the F3 application and then file the IR5?I-130? What is the process?
- Would my son need to file an IR5/I-130, per person, e.g. 1x for me, 1x for my wife (step-mother), and 1x per each of my other cchildren under 16 years of age (step-sisters)....

Cheers ...

Re: US Green card question

Have you checked usenet or other newsgroups - there used to be a very useful usa immigration group. Of course i used it last in 2001, but people there were pretty nice and knew their stuff. Fourteen years ago, i could have answered your question, but now - clueless, sorry.
