Look on trip advisor then.

Or take a look at the numerous other Barcelona threads on this forum.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

I would take a hotel in the Eixample district, not in the old city. As for sightseeing, do the bus tour, it stops at all major sights.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

Use tripdvisor to check out hotels. There are good and bad hotels all over. One of my favourites is the Gran Via. A nice old historic building for the Modernismo period with lots of delightful original features. Not too expensive. It about 5 minutes from the Placa Catalunya and edge of the old town and also close to the zoo. I've stayed there several times. You have to be early with booking though as they normally sell out pretty quickly.

Metros and buses are very cheap in Bercelona, especially if you buy the "bono de 10" ticket for 10 rides. However, the best way to really see Barcelona is by walking. It takes a bit longer but there is amazingly much to see in between the attractions rather than just at them.

Avoid the tourist trap restaurants in the old town and go to the smaller places in the backstreets of the Eixample and you can savour the real Catalan cuisine at a fraction of the price.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

We used VRBO to get a great little apartment which worked really well for our family. Depending on what you want to see you can choose different areas. It turned out much cheaper than a hotel.

We also did some day trips with Viator. Hop on/off bus is always a good way to get a feel for the city and decide what you want to go back and see.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

Hi Sargam,

We (self and two kids) stayed 9 days in Barcelona last month at campingbarcelona, in a 2 bed bunglow with a sea view. there are four daily shuttle bus services to Baecelona from the campsite. The nearby beach at Mataro is nice too.

Once in barcelona i suggest vou take the Bus Touristic.

Have fun

In addition to VRBO, there is AIRBNB https://www.airbnb.co.uk/, looks a very similar site, may give you additional options.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

I would second airbnb.com, we spent a week in Barcelona last month through the website (which we use for pretty much all of our family travel in Europe). we like walking and so probably logged 40+ km in 4 days, we stayed about 20 minutes from the beach, 20 minutes from Las Ramblas and 40 minutes from Parc Guell.

enjoy your time in the city.

if you want to go to a beach, I'd avoid those in the city as they tend to be crowded. Catch the train to Sitges to see a genuinely stylish little town with really nice beaches.

Re: Stay in Barcelona

Hard Rock Cafe, at the top of Las Ramblas. every TripAdvisor review I read that complained about it being fake, overcooked, oversized portion American crap made me want it even more.
