Foreign travel advice and tips

It is a pity that we do not have a Section here for foreign travel advice and tips- it would be great to share ideas, info on Hôtels, B&Bs, locations, what to visit, restaurants, etc.

What do you think? We visited North Sicily last year, and the South this year- so 1 month in all, and gathered a lot of useful info. Would love the chance to pick people's brains (and hearts) re a visit to Slovenia and Croatia next year.

Re: Foreign travel advice and tips

As there is no section for this, many people post in travel and freetime, which is clearly marked as Switzerland only. It seems to be tolerated, but would it not be better to have a separate section for foreign travel?

Info would be particularly valuable from locals from those areas, of those who travel frequently there.

I would welcome such a Forum too, but there are tons of stuff on other websites already, maybe on EF restrict it to personal experiences - and no advertising!

Re: Foreign travel advice and tips

We used to move non-Swiss related things from travel and from health, but in the end I think the mods got fed up with the arguments every time, and unless it's clearly just a fluff attempt ("Tell be about Barcelona") then we just go with the flow.

Great- but wouldn't be better to just have a separate section (yes agree Sbrinz, NO ADVERTS, just personal recommendations and tips.

Re: Foreign travel advice and tips

I agree (and I think most of the other mods do too). Unfortunately, we can't have any more Off-Topic sub-forums. We've asked several times.

This means putting up with some OT stuff in the related Swiss areas, or moving great swathes of things to General OT.

Cheers. Fair enough, but a pity, really. So many of us come from all over the place and have so much to share, tips and advice to give and exchange. Would love to have tips about your latest travel too
