Is this normal, we’ve just been down to the lake and there were three women there after a while they all took there clothes off, totally naked (much to my husbands amusement, his eyes nearly popped out of his head) and jumped into the lake. Now the water was freezing and they must have strong dispositions to cope with the cold. Totally liberating wish I have the guts to do the same, ok maybe not.

I imagine that the main advantage (except the one to the viewing public) is that one can warm up again much quicker if one doesn't have to peel off a wet bathing costume after getting out.
Perhaps they were folk in training for a cross channel swim. English Channel that is. The swimmers for that get themselves acclimatised by dipping into the lakes in the north of England in winter. UGH

Were you at Tiefenbrunnen..? A hidden part of Tiefenbrunnen allows nude sunbathing but down by the water it's normally only optional bare breasts. Otherwise there isn't any "official" nude sunbathing on Zürisee but that doesn't mean it doesn't occur from time to time.

Something tells me they probably weren't British... continentals tend to be much more free and easy with their nakedness!

I think the english have alot of hang-ups over thier Bodies and inhibitions. Maybe we should adapt our thinking and enjoy our bodies and not try to be what the media thinks is healthy being a stick-insect. Still don't think I could do

Actually if you're interested there's a couple of nice FKK (Freikörperkultur = Free Body Culture) spots in the area. On one end of the Werdinsel in the middle of the Limmat River in Zurich and another is located on Zugersee just outside of Zug before you turn towards Zugerland Shopping Center.
