Bubba, the school cat

Cute story of Bubba, the adventurous feline from San Jose, who likes to venture into the nearby high school.

He spends the day interacting with kids, exploring classrooms, then returns home to his owners. Touching to see the kids playing with him. He seems to live the best of both worlds (indoors and outdoors)

I was trying to remember if any of my schools had cats wandering in, but I don't think so. We did have a pet guinea pig at elementary school. Our teacher was amazing in helping us cultivate responsibility by letting us help feed, clean and care for him. I remember she also taught us a lot about animal health and safety issues. Parents would bring foods and supplies and families would rotate in taking him home over weekends.

Re: Bubba, the school cat

I have a vague recollection that this has appeared, here before - about a week or more ago ..... posted by one of the pussy lovers (patsycat or crazykittylady or the like).

You could have saved yourself loads of typing copy and pasting.

Re: Bubba, the school cat

The Belltie was a 'school dog'.

His first owners couldn't be *rsed to care for him were rather unclear on the concept of owner responsibility and simply left him to roam the village.

He liked best to hang out at the school. He'd arrive before school to play with the children and then wait for them on the playground, sometimes rather impatiently and loudly, until lessons were over. Apparently some children took turns bringing him leftovers from their lunches.

After many years of this times and attitudes changed, and the new head of school called Tierschutz.

He's well loved and well cared for here, but there are no small children to play with. I think at times he misses his 'school days'.

Re: Bubba, the school cat

Meloncolie, the dog you mentioned reminded me of another “classroom pet” . . An exchange student at University had a dog ( I believe a therapy dog). He was very spoiled by everyone... had to watch his weight after everyone started offering him treats

Sorry, I did a search on Bubba, classroom cat and cats in general, albeit with no results. What keywords did you use?
