Would be grateful if you could tell me how to properly spell the surname which sounds like 'Maritsch' - thanks.

and how on earth do you put the ' on the c? My computer keyboard is great with French and German accents (despite me having a sort of Welsh/South African accent ) - but not Slovenian.

Google "Maric" and "Slovenija", scroll down the results: sooner or later you'll come across an example with the diacritic. Highlight, copy and paste.

In fact, there are two ways how you can spell this:
Marić (soft C, pronounced like cinque in Italian)
Marič ("hard" C, pronounced like Church, or Chile)

those are two different last names, btw. The second variant may be more common in Slovenia, but you will find both.

Depends which part of Italy you're from.

Often, it's more an 'sh' sound than a 'ch' sound.

I actually use either, depending on my mood and whom I'm with.

Either way it doesn't help us at all pronounce These Slovenian last names!
