suggestions for Nikon mount lens for fireworks

Hi All,
I am trying to find a suitable lens for Fireworks as well as landscape for my Nikon D7000. If anybody share their experience with the lens it should help me to make a decision. I sorted tokina 11-16mm lens but wanted some feedback before buying it.

Quite. And the idea of using an 11-16mm for them just boggles the mind.

You do need to understand how your camera works, specifically how to manually control exposure, although I guess that some of the preset modes might do a half decent job.

maybe the OP is looking for the push to pull the trigger on glass, there are forums for that

The last time it took me a little bit to get the settings right and there you have it, fireworks images. The focal length will just determine how wide the shot is, but that is a pretty wide FL, not sure what it equals though on your camera, I think yours is a crop

Re: suggestions for Nikon mount lens for fireworks

Yes am using Nikon D7000, the crop one and us 18-105mm lens. I went across dpreview and other forums, just wanted to know anybody here with experience with Tokina 11-16mm , as lot of experienced members here may not monitor DPReview regularly.

Also is there any good shops in and around Zurich with reasonable prices. I checked Digitec and microspot and looking for more reasonable shops.

Sorry no idea on the lens, I'm a canon girl and never so wide.

When shopping around for prices on lens remember about grey imports (no warranty) and return policy if there is a fault

Is your main purpose for the lens for fireworks only? What else do you shoot? Would you not rather a portrait lens if you only have a cheap zoom now?

Digitec and Microspot are generally the cheapest and most reliable online shops, but I buy all of my lenses from Media Markt as they price match the cheapest online shops that have the items in-stock and based in Zürich.

As for the lens... why would you use an 11-16mm so everything will look tiny and need cropping? Better to use a telephoto so you can fill the frame and have some flexibility.
