Second Life

I've been a member of Second Life, the online virtual world, for a few months now and wonder if any other Forum users are involved. I'm curious to know what you make of this internet phenomenon.

Re: Second Life

the concept sounds really interesting, its an I have toyed with for a long time. Didn't know that something on this scale did exist. So how are your experiences within second life. Curious to know your comments!

Re: Second Life

Sorry for the late reply

I'm still there, though only for gaming. I find it a bit weird how so much money is spent on developing one's avatar when it's completely non-essential. Is it really the preserve of locked-up loners who live with their Mothers? Ooops, present company excluded, of course...

I saw an interesting DOK on SF a few months ago where they traced some Swiss members and found out incredible stories of trans-Atlantic relationships. Didn't say much to me, but it takes all sorts...

Re: Second Life

Wow, sounds like a good business making cash on folks who for whatever reason prefer virtual life to a real one...

I have read on US kids having troubles with split personality disorders that is linked to creating IDs and living online. There is so much distortion in virtual communication.

I wonder if there are benefits, aside of "meeting" people all over the world? I guess smart cookies can be easily successful in a virtual world, cuts out all the social impediments, etc.

The technology behind it is fascinating.

Gave up on it and became addicted elsewhere.
