Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

...they should have called it "into darkness" instead because it went there pretty soon. But what do you expect from the person who directed "the fast and the furious" intelligent entertainment? Ok so I am a lifelong Trekkie but I did not deserve that offering, for the first time I almost left the cinema half way through, almost mind you. It could not have been worst, well it could if they had managed to get Jar Jar Binks to blow captain Kirk, come to think of it that could have improved the plot.
I get it, these days you have to pander to the Chinese market and to people with the attention span of goldfish but this was bland, bland, bland; Startrek- Into Blandness.
I am certain that some of the actors actually cringed when they delivered their lines and the solution to kill all the bad guys via the Beastie boys is far fetched even for Startrek, did they get the plot on the cheap from a Starwars fan wanting revenge?
On the plus side, lot of great visuals

Re: Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

Loved the first two Star Trek remakes, so am looking forward to seeing this. One issue I though is that they've decided to make Mr. Sulu openly gay, in homage to George Takei. An unnecessary "diversity" move that isn't true to the character and goes against Takei's own wishes. Why? Just why?

I liked it insofar that if it had been any other scifi flick it would have been watchable when it comes out on putlocker, it wasn´t quite a waste of seven Euros but not far off.
At the moment I am enjoying the fan movies on youtube like, Startrek Aurora or ST the voyage continues, ST phase 2 or ST Horizon, of course I am waiting with bated breath for Axanar. Renegades should be good too I hope.

Re: Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

My favourite review headline for this film has to be

Star Trek Beyond: An unwatchable steaming pile of tribble dung

Which means I just have to see it now

Re: Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

thats hollywood at the moment, bigger is better, last time we saved a country, now we save the world, then the galaxy then creation itself etc etc etc then when we've done all that we'll create some lame time traveling plot and do it all again

bigger fight scenes, bigger budgets, bigger piles of crap

kernosurf has no particular reputation at present
Re: Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

It's becoming harder and harder to work up enough enthusiasm to go and see it, but I'm still trying.

Re: Startrek beyond (Achtung spoiler)

Waiting for it to be on the TV, clearly not worth paying to see!
