Lob is very right, a guy who tries too much is a major turn off to a girl. Girls like to be chased, just like guys. If you are too available, there is no excitement left.

Why don´t you read the book "the Game". I have not read it but a male friend of mine has and he thinks it´s very interesting and indeed might help you in your approach.

I know I will be flamed by the EF-core for this, but here it goes.

Yes, indeed, getting girls in Zürich or Switzerland is very difficult, but very easy at the same time.

see, Zürich girls are very superficial and at the same time very deep.

So, if you are a good looking and muscled guy, it won't be difficult to get you not one but many girls here, and they even be quite ok with you having many.

on the other side they are deep, they need to know you well and this takes a long time, first to get inside their trust circle, and after to get to know them.

But I think it is also a matter of finding the right environment and having the right attitude.

Take me as an example. I am old, ugly and boring, but I know and go out with many young, pretty and interesting girls.

Simply they are girls that move in my environment and like my kind.

It would be a waste of time trying to chat or ask out girls that are not tuned with my culture/background/style etc etc.

I am not telling you there is a magical solution, it is not easy here in comparison with other places, but also in your own country it would be difficult if not impossible to try to get a girl that her expectations are not campatibile with what you can offer and viceversa.

The only advice I could give, is to be natural, get rid of the stresss of being a foreigner, being alone ( with all that come with that for us males IYKWIM ), go out a lot, find an environment compatible with your background and approach the girls without a hidden agenda ( that they can read fast an easy, specially when you are "in a hurry" ), and let the things flow.

They like men that are natural, funny and easy going and who know to take initiative, keeping things on an appropriate respectful but not too-slow/shy approach

My best tip, think about who you live with? do they have friends? If you live by yourself, think about a WG-share appartment if it bothers you that much. You'll meet a lot of people that way.

True all of the above. Girls like confident, easy going, natural guys. Looks are not so important unless you are very unattractive. An average guy can go far if he´s confident and not too pushy or "trying"

Please don't encourage him to use the gym as a *meet market* or a pick-up joint. Some of us go to the gym to actually train or work out. It gets tiresome being hit on while on the spin bike or relaxing in the pool.
